I honestly dont get why Americans are so hugely into Superheroes. They are so childish and not in a good way. Like Narnia is for kids or Lion King, yet i feel i can learn something real for them. While "Requiem for a Dream 2000" movie isnt for kids i atleast learn something from it. If i wanted childish fun escapism, which you know isnt better than learning math or long time savings. But Spyro the Dragon i guess.
I just dont get the idea with flying in spandex fighting a super villain. Of why that is so interesting to people? Its just so uninteresting to me. I dont get why full grown adults like it.

They don't grow up. Mass media really really wants them not to.
The Batman TV show from the '60s was perfect when I was 5 years old. The constant efforts to make Batman more and more "dark and gritty" so that adults can still watch it without embarrassment are sad to see.
Grownups should read grownup books.

Making Batman more dark and gritty is simply a reflection of the Batman from the comic books.
And since you seem to be under the misapprehension that comic books are just for kids, I refer you to the works of Frank Miller, Art Spiegelman, and Will Eisner (among others).

Look young infomercials were on the television in the dining room last night, and all I could think was I doubt your product can fix ugly.

It's a side effect of what is known as the just world hypothesis, that evil doers never profit and good always gets what it deserves. In the real world, this doesn't actually happen, so we invent a world, populated by heroes that can make it happen, and live in it a while.

Well, at least we can toss his claims to expertise in aesthetics out the window, as they obviously are more ideological than scholarly.

So I've been coming to these forums for a year and one month, and when I first started posting, I cared about God a lot. But times have changed. I went through some shit in my life that made me not care about God so much, and maybe coming here also made me not care. But I really couldn't care less about God anymore, and honestly, I feel better. Although I will still claim to support certain ideological sensibilities on the grounds that doing so might earn me some power later in life.
