I think it’s a knee-jerk reaction that will have no significant impact on terrorists’ activities. I suspect that it will increase the number of accidental shootings - if you give someone a gun and say, ‘This is to protect yourself from terrorists’, they’re going to start seeing militant Islamists everywhere they look.

Because they are reacting irrationally

You should not try bloodletting until you have solid mechanistic evidence that it works. Similarly, you should not try banning high-tech weapons and preventing mentally ill people from owning a firearm (which is what "gun control" essentially means) before you have solid mechanistic evidence that it would do anything to decrease mass shootings.
Here’s your solid, mechanistic evidence:
-Countries with the strictest gun control measures have the lowest incidence of gun violence.
-Countries with the loosest gun control measures have the highest incidence of gun violence.
Now, get back under your bridge and wait for the goats.

You don't know what "mechanistic evidence" means, do you?

Because people with mental illness are significantly more likely to be victims of violence. So, gun control takes the means of defence out of the hands of the victims.

That article appears to focus on the mentally ill causing violence toward others, not being victims of violence.
Try again.

OK, here is another one:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1525086/ Wrote:A recent study of criminal victimization of persons with severe mental illness showed that 8.2% were criminally victimized over a four month period, much higher than the annual rate of violent victimization of 3.1 for the general population.

I do indeed, and it precisely fits what I said above, you ignorant, reality-denying wretch.
