They were shooting at me, so it was personal. I used to clean out horse stalls for trigger time when I was in high school. The one-legged gunny sergeant who owned the horses asked me I wanted to go to Annapolis. I said I'd rather work where I could swing .50s. He made it happen. Boru

When, and only when it justifies my means.
I think political violence is a vast vast topic.
Most peoples simplistic answer will be that they think its justified against the side they don't support. And then it specifically affects them to the point of them feeling the need to do something. I don't think it's ever justified to go after innocent people, as in children and families of the people connected to whatever you're against. Not only that but overall its probably detrimental towards whatever you're fighting for. In terms of gaining positive support and followers. Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason.
Something in me is repulsed by targeting innocents as a terror tactic, even if it would be effective. Though I appreciate it may appear different in extreme circumstances.
Physical violence against people is generally a last resort, I guess. And even then I'd think twice Civil disobedience, dramatic protest, property damage, all seem much easier to support.
Whenever you vote against me.

I personally do not think things like assassination or even violence is okay at all, no matter what. In terms of innocence, it depends on what good an "innocent" political party does, and if they do anything bad at all. Promoting violence of any kind, however, especially in terms of trying to win elections or disagreeing with others' opinions, is never okay. Yet, while the democrats are capable of this as well, the republicans seem to think they are not above doing this, and seem to resort to this more. Either way, politicians can act as desperate to get what they want and silence those who oppose them, and using violence like the January 6 incident is not going to do anything; it just shows that you are wrong and immoral, and not the better person.
No matter what is far too broad a statement. If someone will literally destroy the world, maybe assassination is due.
Violence is ultimately the source of all power. And politics is power. No violence, no politics, in one sense. One man's terrorist is another freedom fighter and all that. I guess it's all about the details. Where the devil lives. |
