Is life more satisfying as an atheist or religionist?

For those who have been both in their life, which is better?

I don't find a huge difference, but I'd say being an atheist gives more options for personal fulfillment and less negatives.

I'm satisfied now that at least I'm not bullshitting myself any more.

Never anything but an atheist, but my snake-handling hillbilly cousins say I'm missing "something important!" They've learned not to bug me about religion, they can't afford the ER bills.

Haven't lived that religionist life since I was 13, not sure anything I contribute from a 13 year olds memory would be valid now.

My life was better when I was a Catholic. But that's over and done with. I'm not an atheist, but I might as well be, since I don't adhere to any particular religion.

To the Jews and Muslims who are fighting right now, life would be much more satisfying without religion.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Since I was forced to attend Catholic schools from 6th grade through high school graduation, I have to say life is better without.

I expect that's true.
But to play devil's advocate, maybe life is more satisfying if you go through hell for what you think is a greater good than if you you live a long life of quiet comparative meaninglessness.  Dunno.  I prefer quiet, but I seem a minority in the world.

When I realized I had become an atheist, I experienced an overwhelming sense of emancipation from anxiety, irrational thinking and fear. Enough said!  Great

My current life is very much meaningful, but that doesn't mean it's a good life. As a Catholic, my life had no coherent meaning, besides the special meaning suggested by my religion, but I never fully believed in that, and it wasn't a meaning of my own making to begin with.
