RE: Concerts (First, Favorite, Fail, and Future)
Okay, not a Prince fan. My first live concert was RUSH in 1980 on their Permanent Waves tour at the Forum down in LA.

First: Van Halen, 1984
Favorite: ZZ Top, Recycler Tour, mostly because of the 4th row center seats and the emphasis on tunes that goth them there, not just the recent shit they were flinging at the wall.
Fail: Fleetwood Mac, Tango in the Night Tour. Woke up the day before the show felling a bit ill. Was sick as a dog the day of the show. Felt fine the day after. W,T,F?!?
Future: A Twofer: Edge of Paradise on Apr. 23rd and Icon for Hire on Apr. 27th.

Honorable mention: Caught Extreme on Valentine's day. That was among the best shows, but a star off for the venue. It was great to finally see Nuno live. He's one of the few who's home address is actually on Mt. Gutarus. A true guitar god. He plays Eddie better than Eddie did!

Prince is an artist I absolutely failed to appreciate during his lifetime.

While I recognize his talent, he never played a damned thing I was actually interested in listening to.

Best concert? I've been to so many shows, arenas, small theaters, and clubs, that it's hard to pick one. The best show within the past 5 years has to be either BATUSHKA, or the MAYHEM - INQUISITION shows at EL Corazon down in Seattle.

As a musician myself, music is my oxygen and I've been to over 100 shows before getting old and tinnitus messing up what I hear. I've seen many of the great classic rock bands, so it may be difficult to choose...

First: Iron Maiden 1982 (seen them again in '87 with GnR opening for them)

Favourite: Fleetwood Mac or Richard Thompson (Twice)

Fail: The Who 1989 (thought I bought good floor seats in section D that turned out to be 80 rows from the stage, so I watched the whole thing from the jumbo video screen!)

Future: Sarah McLachlan (originally from my city and likely the last show I'll ever see). Who I wish I could see, but never will is Sigur Ros (almost did years ago)

Honourable mentions to Cheap Trick and Page & Plant for great shows I will always remember Smile
It will all be over soon...

Musician here, too, Asmo -- guitar, bass, drums, keys. What do you play?

First: The Guess Who - 73-74ish. They did a free show at the ampitheater at Monte Sano State Park. My boy scout troup was camping in the park. The scout master was a fan, and he marched us over to see the show.

Favorite: Tie between the Rush 2112 tour, and the ZZ Top World Wide Texas Tour. Both in 76.

Fail: Pink Floyd. They were playing in Birmingham on a Sunday night. It was same day as the 94 spring NASCAR race in Talladega. Traffic leaving the race combined with traffic going to the concert caused a gridlock in Birmingham. We missed half the show.

Future: Either a Blues Cruise or one of the Gov't Mule Island Exodus event in Jamaica.

In a band I was primarily the bass player and songwriter, but also rhythm guitar, basic drums and mandolin. I was never great, but do enjoy performing on stage immensely.
