You forgot to mention the one overwhelming factor that has set Americans back while employed and that's super high inflation. Even working people are struggling as their income covers less and less. The inflation reduction act has me scratching my head as to how we were going to reduce inflation through more federal spending.  This is a large part of economic health.

Immediately before the pandemic the black unemployment rate was 6.1%. As of now it is 6.3%. in the first quarter of 2024. Blacks earned an average of $303 per week compared to $293 a week in the first quarter of 2024. Throw in the effect of out of control inflation and it's no wonder so many are going to Trump. Black support for trump is now around 17% and Latino support is around 50%.

The record low for the Black or African American unemployment rate, 4.8%, was set under Biden in April 2023. That beat the Trump-era low that was a record at the time, 5.3% in August 2019 and September 2019. (A cautionary note: This official data series goes back only to 1972.)

The most recent Black or African American unemployment rate, for May 2024, is 6.1%. Though that is a clear uptick from the 2023 record, it is low by historical standards. And it is the same as the rate under Trump in February 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic caused unemployment to skyrocket

Bet if you look closely enough at the inflation complainer you’ll find they have thousands of dollars worth of tattoos and piercings/rings hanging off their bodies, own homes they can’t afford, have vehicles they can’t afford and have 3 or more kids they can afford along with the two to three dogs they need to feed.  I witness it most every day. 

I retired this year at 59 without having a college degree and for 30 years I lived within my means. I never bought a new car. Owned two homes.

I’ve made 100k in the last 6 months. No tatts or nose rings.

Black voters remain largely aligned with the Democratic Party (83% identify with or lean to the Democrats), and 77% of Black registered voters say they would prefer to vote for Biden over Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

At the same time, Black voters are very critical of Trump. Most say he was a poor or terrible president (72%). And many Black adults think he broke the law in his alleged efforts to change the outcome of the 2020 election (65%).

Despite their support for Biden and criticism of Trump, about half of Black voters (49%) say they would replace both Biden and Trump with different candidates if they had the ability to decide. This is similar to the share of all voters who say this.

Currently, 83% of Black registered voters identify as or lean Democratic, while 12% are Republican or lean Republican. This share is slightly smaller than the 88% who associated with the Democratic Party in 2020. Still, the vast majority of Black voters have consistently identified with or leaned toward the Democratic Party over the last 30 years.
