Glad you clarified. I've long felt that the term 'doctor' should be restricted to those people with degrees in medicine. It doesn't make sense to me that a guy with an advanced degree in Bolivian jockstrap weaving should be addressed by the same title as a pediatric oncologist.

Dad was called by his given name by family (his parents and siblings). Then the guys in the Navy nicknamed him Fritz. After getting his degree in veterinary medicine and starting his own practice he became Doc to just about everyone.

Retired urologist .

Most of my career was in a large (blue) Mid Western city.
Currently live in the pacific north west.
