'Literally' as a synonym for 'figuratively'.

Any statement that begins 'I'm not racist, but....'.

I work in a college with 4000 students.
All I hear all day long is "omg literally like, yeh same bro" even girls call each other bro.
Starting sentences with so has been common for a while now.
Most demographics speak the same with little differences.
Westerners will say oh my god like literally, others will say wallahi like literally bro.

I used to get fiercely annoyed at this kind of thing more but recently I find it cute when I hear my kids are doing it.
They even call me bro sometimes.

Anything can be annoying when you're surrounded by it and it's overused.


Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Gerunds are fine. ‘Do you mind my asking you?’ Doesn’t bother me. ‘I know this is a big ask’ is just wrong.
