Ai music

RE: Ai music
I have an open mind here, perhaps because I am a consumer of art rather than a creator of it. I see a huge potential for AI in artistic creation, even if just as a tool for a human creator. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

As a musician, AI as a tool does not appeal to me at all.  Music is an expression of mind and body and soul.  AI can provide none of that.

Musicians will say that but listeners just listen, like and buy

There's a whole lot of "product" out there that doesn't aspire to be art. Its predictable level makes it seem as if it's already made according to some impersonal formula, to the point where an AI taking over would probably not be noticed.

Like all these endless sequels to Star Wars. I watched an episode of The Mandalorian and thought maybe the AI had taken over already.

If you've seen samples of scenes made by Seedance 2.0 from China, it's clear that one guy with a decent computer will soon be able to make shows that are good enough for TV.

Argumentum ad populum doesn't work for art, either.

And simply because AI-generated music sucks does not mean that all human-generated music is worthwhile. Examples - ‘Hotel California’, ‘Octopus’s Garden’, and the entire Katy Perry catalogue.

I realize guitar playing is your identity like a jesusgod belief is to religious people.

I can guarantee you that I would not be able to tell the difference your godguiter playing and an ai solo.

And I’ll bet that most average music listeners aren’t thinking wow your guitar playing stands out.

Like someone else has said today, you just want to argue.  your god is better than all the others.

Does sales of music and top 10 music lists trump your AaP?

If that's what you think of me, you don't know me at all.

I have no doubt about that.

... and I'll bet I've made music that is easily differentiated from AI slop.

I have my own opinions. If you guys cannot take viewpoints which differ from your own, maybe discussions aren't your bag. At any rate, when you resort to ad homs because someone disagrees with your views, it says more about you than about them. It relieves you of the obligation to compose a cogent reply, if nothing else.

As if they aren't AaP ... <smh>

By this logic, "Itsy-bitsy Teeny-weeny Yellow Polka-dot Bikini" is musically superior to "The Well-Tempered Clavier", because the former charted and the latter didn't.

I'm just making an observation between our talk about ai moths ago. Today someone brought it up that you just want to argue.

Do you believe you can tell the difference of Marcin playing Beethoven 5th? An an ai version of his performance?

I was an enormous Vai fan years ago. I own a Jem. Between Marcin and Tim Harrison has changed everything in my limited music enthusiasm/experience.

these guys are GOATs in my opinion to date. There might be hundreds that can do to a guitar what these guy do but I’ve not seen there work.

Are you making a living off of your guitar skills?

"Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" is a 1960 novelty hit by 16-year-old Brian Hyland that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, the song tells the humorous story of a girl too shy to wear her new swimsuit in

Do you know where Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier landed on the top 100?

Are you a successful guitarist if you are getting paid or getting over the top notoriety?
