You know how you can sue companies? ... about that...
Thank you, supreme court conservatives.
First, citizen's united decision and now this:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110427/ap_o...ss_actions

"Now, whenever you sign a contract to get a cell phone, open a bank account or take a job, you may be giving up your right to hold companies accountable for fraud, discrimination or other illegal practices," said Deepak Gupta, a Public Citizen lawyer who argued the case.

So apparently a couple bought a free cell phone and was charged 30$ in sales tax.
The result is that now companies can do whatever they want to you. Whenever they want. However they want. And you can't do a damn thing to them litigiously.

Because we're America. Land of the Free.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

Any minute now, Void will drop by to explain how us how it is good that companies don't have to worry about being sued because that would slow them down from fucking over their customers.

Ah...once again the invisible-hand-of-the-market grabs people by the balls.

Nothing in the free market that both myself and theVOID subscribe to allows companies to break the law. A free market removes barriers to trade and allows people to create and sustain businesses easily. It doesn't give anyone the ability to defraud people or break any laws. Your continued strawmen of our positions despite being told time and time again that it is not what we believe is getting more than annoying. You are on par with the theists who come here and make up ridiculous claims about our atheistic beliefs.

Then it isn't a free market, now is it? Sleepy

Use a different term for it, ie 'lightly regulated market', and you won't sound nonsensical Tiger

Ah Adrian, long time no conflict. Try to concentrate on the issue here, what does " free " mean to consumers in your free market? The couple who brought the action obviously thought they knew!
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

The Libertarian dream world, the Communist dream world and the Christian Heaven all have one thing in common: they only exist in the fantasies of those who actually believe.

Adrian, just stop it. An individual has no ability to protect himself against these corporate scumbags and you pretending that "everyone is equal in your libertarian paradise" is simply sickening bullshit.

Marie Antoinette said "let 'em eat cake." Your position is "let 'em eat shit."
