Hello. Secular taoist, here
Hi all,

I'm also from atheistforums.com. Not banned, Angel but the site is down, and this looks like a good place to get a fresh start anyway.
I see a few other familiar people from that "other" place.

I've been an atheist for about 4 years, since around the time of my daughters birth (I was 33). Strange thing to cause one to re-examine one's views, but it was while I was considering baptism (while still pregnant), that I really deeply examined my religious beliefs for the first time in my adult life. I had somehow managed to ditch organized religion, yet still cling to the vague comfort beliefs in god and the afterlife for over a decade. It was hard to let go of, but also gratifying to finally live in reality.

My brother-in-law also had me listen to "Letting Go of God" by Julia Sweeney, and it really hit me then.
My husband was, and still is, an atheist, and I imagine the years of his conversations contributed more than I realize. He is the one who introduced me to taoism (in it's secular form), and I have found it very fitting for me it as a philosophical world view.

In the end though, I've come down as a very strong atheist.

At any rate, I have my anti-theistic moments, but I tend to be a pretty non-aggressive poster. I look forward to the new community, and meeting new people, and maybe seeing a few old friends as well.

Nice to see a familiar face Smile Here's hoping we find a new home here.

Have you been in contact with anyone from the other forum? I'd be interested in finding out exactly what happened.

I have Janetsy's e-mail but haven't contacted her. I doubt she'd know what happened either, she rarely posts there anymore.
I have no idea what happened but Gawdzilla mentioned that the domain has gone unpaid, or something.
Personally, I was wondering if Noreligion hacked it in retaliation, lol. Ok, just kidding, but in all seriousness, I have no idea.

Well, me, I've been considering getting into a non-theistic form of Buddhism, but, I must admit that I haven't been able to find the time to start meditation practices.
