What do you mean by "we are all essentially one"?
And does that mean all sex is masturbation?

Only if all sex one does is with themselves.

It was implied but not stated.
I disagree that we're all one consciousness, that would mean there is no objective reality as everything would be subjective. We're only interconnected in the sense that our constituents are from the same source.

Interconnected in what way? And if you believe this then aren't you in fact making a judgement about the nature of reality?
Also, perhaps you should find a different word to use other than God?

I suppose I am. I use the term God for it because it has a sense of... sacredness to it, something to be revered. It is also why I typically don't bring it up at all and just say I'm an atheist.
I mean interconnected in that we are all essentially the same. We have different interpretations and experiences, but there is a common thread woven throughout. We believe we are so very different with our senses of self and egos--but much of that is all just illusion, layers thrown upon reality. Some people call it the "collective unconscious" but that has many varying meanings.

How would you determine subjective vs. objective reality?
I like this quote:
Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world.
Same world.
Thanks, fr0d0.
Minimalist, I have no idea wtf is going on
As to the sex question.... I ain't touchin' that.

Easily. Does it have a perspective?
If so, it is necessarily the perspective of the subject(s).
Objective is that without perspective, which if it exists (i believe it does) would never make sense in any sort of way. I cannot imagine how it looks, as that would require perspective.

You don't think nature can be revered without imposing some unjustified metaphysical beliefs upon it?

You mean "we are all essentially the same" as in the same consciousness?
And my sense of self is an illusion?
I have good reason to believe my mind is my own, and it's not your mind. What you propose is not just in the interim of scientific evidence, it is contrary to the available evidence.

Subjective = Grounded in the experience of persons
Objective = Independent of experience
Quote:I like this quote:

Same world.
It should be "Loving people and hostile people live in the same world, one that has no intrinsic love or hostility".

You choose which world you live in, though it is the same world without anything intrinsic to it. That's what the quote means.
I still don't see how reality can be independent of experience?
What metaphysical beliefs am I imposing upon nature?
As to being one, it is supported by what I have read. I don't have such things bookmarked anymore (new comp) and all my books are in storage, so I'll have to do some digging around to find you reputable sources at a later time.
