I think starless planets should be more common than planets which orbits around stars. After the formation of any planetary systems, most of the planets formed either crash into the fiery blaze of its parent star, or or hurled off into deep interstellar space. The few that manage to hold orbits are those that are more easily observable due to their minuscule, albeit measurable effects on stellar magnitude.
