And I also don't believe I was actually limiting his free speech. I gave him the right to post what he likes in Ry'Leh. The community can then give us feedback on his fate. Express to your hearts content, just realize that you're accountable for what your rants make you look like.

I must confess to mixed feelings about limiting speech on certain topics -- I forget who said it, but some wise/acre once said that the remedy for bad speech is not censorship, but more speech. That being said, as this is not my board nor my responsibility, I will abide by whatever policy is set in this area, and like a good atheist lackey, toe the line. I will point out, though, that on boards like the loose change forums and theologyweb.com, certain types of speech are explicitly segregated from the main content on those forums, and the free spirit in me feels that something very precious, the possibility of unfettered meeting of minds, is being killed in the process, or at least severely wounded.

i agree 100%... yet when posting you are giving up that right ( willingly) to ABSOLUTE free speech because of the rules set in this forum

"Rights" are illusory... I can post whatever I want here. What happens to it afterwards is someone else's decision.

I don't follow the rules of the site... it just so happens that the site's rules do not interfere with how I desire to post (As I don't intend to post porn, insult-laden posts, or state secrets). As such... my speech is entirely free on this board. The speech of those that want to post porn, insult (extensively), or otherwise engage in 'naughties' is not 'free' here.

What I think is ironic is someone from Iran trying to take others to task for not allowing free speech. Iran. You know the place. Where the Ayatollah Khomeni issued a death sentence for an author who wrote a book he didn't like.
