Sorry Rizhomorph. I an not trying.to ignore your post I just don't understand it and it spears that you didn't take it seriously. Wich is fine, humor is always good. Well thank you too. Shell, its nice how you say it would be nice if there was someone. Ultimately its a personal choice. The explanation for loss is that God will compensate those who have died in disasters or suffered any pain. He will even avenge, even if you are an atheist and have been delt with unjustly by someone. I also want to apologise if I haven't inserted /commented on others posts. Thanks

I completely agree. Belief in god is a choice. I choose to err (for lack of a better phrase) on the side of reason.

Oh, yes. Of course god will compensate for terrible pain and loss that is ultimately pointless, given that he could have stopped it, theoretically.

There is no explanation for loss, apart from "that is life."

This is a question for atheists, deists and such. If you were to be asked what is God like and why in case he existed what would you say? The answer should be based on your observation and reflection of everything that has surounded you. Also try to look into your emotions. Thanks

Well, technically, believers choose not to believe the obvious, so it is essentially a choice, but of course it is based on experience, among other things.

I think believers simply accept revealed truth and do not question their personal experiences. That is why I was a believer for so long and could not have changed that because it was just so obvious to me back then. Then I gave it a think and I could not believe now if I tried, and I have. Believers think that we choose not to believe the obvious you know, like how the tide goes in and the tide goes out. Also, how do magnets works? Fucking God! That's why!

Pel, what is the point of an all-powerful god compensating people killed in disasters? Why not just do without disasters? Similarly, why allow harm to be done to people and then take revenge on the perpetrators?
Or is it that the god you worship is a bit of a twat?

Deny obvious what shell? The obvious conclusions they draw from experiences? To deny that would make me atheist, luckily I don't deny evidence or experience without justification.

What is "obvious" is a matter of epistemology. Like I said before, what was obvious to me as a Christian is now obviously false and I'm not crazy now, nor was I when I was a Christian.
