For a government on such a large scale to exist we must first lose the rights to freedom, happiness and all our rights to power and wealth. Human beings will cease to be anymore than property.
Live every day as if already dead, that way you're not disappointed when you are.
We have a right to wealth?
My rights have been violated all this time.

And what is this "right execution"?

I knew I headscissored you for too long. You've gone completely mad due to lack of oxygen supply. Sorry about that. One world government? Don't know about that, we haven't quite taken care of all the corruption in the world yet. What's to stop a world government from becoming corrupt? Mind you I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons that such an idea might not work.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
Oh yes, Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury all come to mind.

But do we have a "right" to wealth?

Could you quantify the scale of government at which "rights to freedom, happiness and all our rights to power and wealth" becomes lost? Could you also identify the how this scale might change with various factors that might effect your power, wealth and happiness? (June 27, 2011 at 2:39 pm)LastPoet Wrote: And what is this "right execution"? Well I would imagine that the concepts of both Capitalism and Socialism would be completely irrelevant in this implied model. We would have to come up with something entirely new that defies old standards and definitions. Perhaps something akin to what Riane Eisler suggests in regards to politics and economics. I would have to do more research on that as it's been so long since I last tapped into it. But I will say this, that what qualifies a "right execution" would be anything that creates a stable government. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to work. One option in the poll says "Yes, a stable, functioning world government would be an overall good thing" and the other option is "Even if we had a stable, functioning government for the entire planet it would not be a good thing overall". I think this is the first and most important question, asking that even if we established a functioning world government would it be right? Or are there alternatives?
