Before I respond to this... know that I hold exactly zero liking for Descartes.

'True' knowledge is utter nonsense NTS.

It is indeed. However "mere" a belief in 'God' is anyway.

The fuck is all this "just" believe nonsense you and the OP and everyone else in this seems to be spouting?
You do believe the pc will fire up. That's it. It's not a 'merely believe'. It is not a 'just believe'. Nor is it an 'only believe'. And 'simply believe' is no less ridiculous.
Thank you everyone... have nice day

Hehehe, theists have a tendency to use "know" and "believe" interchangeably. Your pet peeve ran over my pet peeve. Whadda we do here, exchange insurance information?

That's because there is no difference between knowing a thing and believing a thing. Unless you, like VOID, require knowledge to be 'correct'. In which case we believe a lot of shit and know next to nothing

I am anything but a solipsist. I happen to have a great deal of faith in intersubjectivity.

First, let it be known that I have considerable liking and respect for Aerzia;a rather usual, sometimes odd,but never boring member with a fascinating mind..
Aerzia:I enjoyed your long post, but you lost me with your short one. I understand what I think of as the primitive philosophy of solipism ;it is the infant's (and ostrich's ) concept of reality;EG "If I close my eyes, you can't see me".
BUT I have no idea what you mean by 'intersubjectivity' . would you mind explaining what it means to you?

Sure
Subjective: Individual viewpoint.
The computer sits in front of me. (Individual)
Intersubjective: A group with a similar enough viewpoint that they could be said to be 'comparable'.
The computer sits in front of me and my friend. The mountain sits in front of the ant and his queen. (Groups)
Objective: Every viewpoint possible. (Group of every individual) (Indeed this last one is warped)

An individual may believe in a monster he knows to be imaginary. Where might he come across such knowledge, perhaps in the observations of the others in his collective?

Absolutely not 0.o Hell, even clones to the atom are not identical (they vary in location or time of being).
