Wife exorcises Christian demon from her computer

Wife exorcises Christian demon from her computer

Well, after days of cursing and shouting, my wife (BethK) has finally exorcised the anti-atheist demon in the latest version of Ubuntu that downed her computer. (A friend postulates she was slipped Ubuntu CE, the version of Ubuntu optimised for Christian Computing).

She went back and installed the Hardy Heron version of it, wiping out the op system and replacing it with the older version. So she is back here again.

Woah, that's an old release Wink You should convince her to download the 11.04 iso, or 10.10 if Unity would get on her nerves.

Yeah, but I had a known good CD of 8.10 that I could use to get up and running for now.

I tried 11.04 but Unity will not work on my computer! I suspect it's got to do with my old monitor, but it flashes things for 1/100th of a second or so, or if I click on icons, they disappear! That's beyond just "getting on my nerves".

I have downloaded 10.04 LTS and Lubuntu 10.04 a few minutes ago. I'll see what either of those will do, but in the mean time, I'll stop Jonesing about not being able to get online.

A friend told me that I might have gotten ahold of Linux-CE (Christian EXperience), which is anti-atheist and when you try to invoke anything, it gives back Christian rebukes, exorcisms, and warnings on invoking demons and ghosts.... not to mention that it does NOT like the DAEMONs that lurk in Linux or other Unix-like operating systems. Of note, there is also Linux-ME (Muslim EXperience) which instead quotes verses from the Koran, but also warns about invoking software routines equating them to spirits and ghosts.

This same friend of James claims there's a Cthuhlu version coming out soon. FSM Grin That should work, since Cthuhlu looks a lot like the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Hahaha! I'd heard of CE and ME, never knew they'd bitch about Daemons, what fools!

The problem with Unity likely has nothing to do with your monitor, it requires 3D acceleration by default, that can cause the glitches you experienced - If you want to use the latest packages without Unity I'd recommend Linux Mint, they chose to stick with the "classic" Gnome 2x feel. 10.04 is a solid release though, and with LTS at least you're guaranteed patches for the next 3 years Smile

I can also exorcise demons, for a price. It's worth it, because I have a 100% success rate. Go ahead and try to find a demon after I've exorcised it.

You don't have to use Unity on 11.04 (I personally can't stand it). You can select the good old Gnome desktop as your default session at the login screen.

I hated it too, that was the reason for my exodus to Fedora, gnome 3 is absolutely brilliant IMO, it has a hell of a lot of potential and it looks like all my pet peves are addressed in the upcoming 3.2 release.
