*Edit to add* Usher,when he comes out of the closet officially boy are the women going to be shocked! lol He butchered that song. I don't like that or him much. Well, it'll just get you down If you let life get to you 'Cause everybody's saying something None of it's true Well, I just don't care When them times get hard 'Cause I got everything I need Right out in my yard (Chorus): I love my truck, she's right outside I ain't got much love but I sure got a ride It don't matter who lived It don't matter who lied I got my truck right by my side You got Sally and you got Sue And I got a Chevrolet She takes me home after work Don't ever miss a day She don't care what I am She don't care what I ain't But she ain't no cheap pick-up She just needs a couple coats of paint (Chorus) Yeah She don't care if I don't work a lick She'll start every time if the choke don't stick I know that she will never doubt me 'Cause she never leaves home without me (Chorus) I got my truck right by my side, yeah I got my truck right by my side ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Poor Mr.Campbell, he was just recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. But his music will always make me smile. Country music speaks to the brass tacks, bare bones of the everyday man and woman's mundane reality. It's suppose to be funny, it's suppose to be touching, it's suppose to be patriotic, it's suppose to be vittles and grits. It speaks in jargon the simple man/woman understands. The everyday grind, the deep sorrow, the questions, the satisfaction after working hard. I like contemporary country music. I also like some of the old classics. It makes me smile when I remember growing up and learning to dance with my now dead relatives, when I was a little boy and we all laughed smiled and tore up a rug having a good time. They forgot the grind of paying bills, meeting the mortgage, living on in a bad marriage, etc... And I lived a little boy's life of bliss, not knowing what any of that meant. "In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with."
Brian Tracy

I was born with the gift of laughter and a sense the world is mad.
Country music has become a genre for those with a tiny bit of talent that can't make it anywhere else. If they fail at that, they start making Christian music.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Sometimes funny, some times poignant,depending on mood. I find country music just dandy if I want disconnect my cerebral cortex and wallow in self pity.
Unintentionally funny: Bobby Bare "Dropkick Me Jesus through the goal posts of life"" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsWg0bt9kp4 Poignant/self pitying Leeann Rimes "Blue" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I62uwbyD2pU
A lot of country pop is pretty damned pathetic and therefore funny. Johnny Cash and his era, not so much.
Trying to update my sig ...

I hate the genre, but as far as good/funny lyrics go;
Kenny Rogers - Ruby; You've painted up your lips an rolled and curled your tinted hair. Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere? The Shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down - Oh Ruby Don't take your love to town It wasn't me that started that old crazy asian war But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore And yes, it's true that I'm not the man I used to be... Oh Ruby I still need some company. Its hard to love a man whose legs are bent and paralysed And THE WANTS AND the needs of a woman your age, Ruby I realize, But it won't be long i've heard them say until I'M not around Oh Ruby Don't take your love to town She's leavin' now 'cause I heard the slammin' of the door The way I know I've heard it slam one hundred times before And if I could move I'd get my gun and put her in the ground Oh Ruby Don't take your love to town Oh Ruby God sakeS turn around
