But Catholics have been praying to Mary ever since Fatima for the conversion of Russia. They finally got their wish just over 20 years ago. So, has the "prophecy" not kept up with current events, or was everything fixed and nothing could be done to change it from the start?

Actually, they weren't looking to convert Russia. They need a Pope to consecrate Russia. Sounds idiotic, I know, but there you have it. That happened and it was over.

Now, the prophecy can't really keep up with currently events, as it was given more than half a century ago. Furthermore, the supposed prophesy given by that website is utterly fucking made up. As I am sure you know, prophesies are notoriously ambiguous. Even if I knew jack shit about Fatima, I would ignore that prophesy (I would anyway, but I would also ignore its connection to the church) because it is too specific. False prophets are never that specific, at least not the old school kind.

There is one thing that these Fatima nuts are completely missing about what their faith says about itself.

The Roman Catholic Church claim they are the decedents of the Church that Jesus created via Peter, and Jesus himself said "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".

Three suggestible children seeing a vision of the Virgin Mary should not contravene what previous popes have said is scripture, using their infallibility clause. Especially when Mary is not a God(dess), and Jesus is believed to be God incarnate.

So, I have to think these sites are frauds. It could come to pass that the Vatican ceases to exist tomorrow, but I somehow doubt it... unless, of course, these sites are actually giving a veiled terrorism threat.

Um, I don't need to read any of that, but thank you. Yes, they were looking to convert Russia. I should have worded that differently. The conversion of Russia was not necessary to stop the events in the Fatima prophesy. The country had to be consecrated and it was.

Sure, I can read and I know that you're an atheist.

But, if you would have gone to those sites that I gave links to, if you're anything like me, you'd have a sort of "icky" feeling from reading the writings of those nutjobs and how seriously they take this garbage. I know that sometimes I have to have what my DH calls an "atheist revival" just to get over nonsense like that.
