I like philosophy, but regardless of what one thinks, a degree in philosophy is only worth the paper it's printed on.

I've never agreed with the use of philosophy for arguing about the existence of gods as practical. As Min has stated it is nothing more than mental masturbation at best. I love classical philosophy and their many and sometimes humorous reflections about life and our place in it, but once they extend that to religion I switch to "not this bullshit again" mode. LOL

It's as useful as you want to make it. I got an undergraduate degree in philosophy, and found that it prepared me very well for law school. Any course of study which teaches critical thinking and writing skills is useful, imo.

Perhaps, but writing skills I got from English, Creative Writing, and Literature 101 & 102. As for critical thinking, I've been doing that my whole life and some would argue (and I know several people who agree with me) that philosophy isn't meant for critical thinking, it is meant for conjecture only. Philosophy doesn't solve, it only analyzes.


However, I don't really care all that much - just playing Devil's advocate. Tongue
