In my apologetic class we are reading te book crazy love by francis chan. It sucks ass. But tommorow we are gonna discuss it. Now chan ususes the passage in the bible which says it is absurd for clay to tell the potter how to shape it. He compares this to our relationship with god saying we have no right to question him an he is free to do as he pleases. Now lets just suppose for a minute this god does exist, doea he truly have the right to treat humans as he sees fit? In my opnion i dont think so. Just because human are capable of feeling and thinking-something clay lacks. However, i havent thought about this in depth. So what are your opnions? Would a divine creator have the authority to do whatever he wanted with his creation? Is it absurd for a creation to question their maker? Again im not saying i believe in a creator i just know this discussion will come up and wanted to see the forums opinion. Thanks.

That's a good question. I believe that God views our lives in two ways; without his guidance we go to destruction, with his guidance we go to life. If I didn't believe that Jesus Christ was good, then I wouldn't want him to control me, but I feel he is like a parent to me, and I know that my parents would never place me in harms way, unless something is going on that I can't understand yet. When I was a kid I thought my mother was evil because no matter how much I called for her, she wouldn't help me get away from the doctor, while they gave me my shots. I fought, literally fought them, but later I learned that I needed those shots, they were going to help me survive diseases that could kill me. That's how I view what God does in my life.

In other words whoever holds the power over another is inherently right. Yes, that's the argument of the clay analogy.

That's like me creating a group of people on an island and because I'm very powerful, I can do what I want to them. Torture them, drown them, burn them and it will be ok because I'm powerful. Christians and other theists would hate my guts for that and yet they worship a being that behaves no differently. Where's the sense in that?
God always gets a free pass.

And yet secular societies tend to be very peaceful and productive while more religious societies are violent and over run with crime.

Except god will let you and your family members die of cancer, heart disease, slow painful deaths through various means and will also be happy to burn you and your family for all eternity for simply lacking belief.
I'm confident in saying that I'm a far more moralistic being than god.
