Why Is Masturbation Sin?

It has been said thatAngel

Masturbation is a sin because a person consents in their own heart to take sexual gratification from impure thoughts. It is sinful to indulge in the sexual pleasure that is derived from the satisfaction of using one's imagination to FIXATE upon obscene images, or obscene actions, or forbidden sex. Lustfully fixating upon genitals, or sexual acts, is idolatry. This is called: the worship of obscenities. This is the sin of those addicted to pornography. That's often a "guy" thing. Alternatively, taking delight in the lust of another, or consummating a fantasy of forbidden sexual romance, is the sin of adultery in the heart. God does not love a human action, according to our way of thinking it can be said that God hates it. These actions are sins. They are often as hateful to men as they are to God! What are some things that God does not love? What are some things that, according to our human way of speaking, we might say that God hates??

Now my wordsThinking
Now 98% males masturbate, why must we would live by such great denial, I like to hear back from some great Christian master- debaters out there.

I think you are right when it comes to the "orthodox" christian view about masturbation. My devout catholic friend said once to me that masturbation is sinful when you either idolize yourself or think sexual fantasties while you are doing the act. Otherwise it is not a sin to masturbate among other things.

Since the vast majority of us on this forum arent christians, we dont give a shit what "orthodox" christians think about a masturbation, or homosexual sex or transvestism etc. Considering that the new testament requires wives to be submissive to their husbands.

You reminded me of a very bad joke which goes like this.

Q. What do you call several people debating with each other?

A. Mass Debating.

Are we really talking about being ugly to someone and trolling on a masturbation thread?

My first post on this thread came from other Christians, not me. That’s like when you give a negative quote from the bible to a Christian, they want to condemn you to hell. I did not write the bible I only question it, just like you do.

Where are the Christians anyhow?

I do not belong to any group, so trolling would not matter. I have no interest in fighting or to have any angry discussion to vent, because I rather just share thoughts... This Forum invited me back again to share with you all. If many of you have nothing better then to put me down rather than be open up to new ways of thinking, like this topic of masturbation.

Then that would be so lame if you can’t handle it. Why mess around, when there are other places, I can be.

As I said before, I am not a debater, just enjoy discussions

Go enjoy yourself, nothing wrong with that, to me.

Well, that had more thought given to it, then a lot of comments so far.

Personally, I can't get off without thinking impure thoughts. Sometimes ya just gotta rub one out. I think it's silly when religion tries to pervert something that is totally natural. Basically what they're saying is being a human is a sin.

Good buy

I don't think there have been any Christian replies yet, so I'll take this one. Don't say "Good buy" (?) just yet Castle.

I'd like to quote the professor of my abuse counseling class who said, "I'm going to go ahead and list all the verses in the Bible that talk about masturbation. . . . . . . . . That was a complete list of all the verses in the Bible that talk about masturbation." He's completely right too. There are no verses in the Bible that talk about it, and obviously it was still going on at the time (judging from ancient art). So the Bible's stance on the subject seems to be, "Meh" *shrugs*.

A disproportionate majority of people masturbate with at least some frequency (numbers are in the 90-95% range for both genders in some demographics). Obviously it's a problem to be addicted to porn, or compulsively masturbate, but some Christian ethicists (such as Lew Smedes) would say that otherwise whether or not to masturbate is up to the individual. (The Bible says to "love thyself" right?).

So basically the church has traditionally made a big deal out of sexual issues, and has a lot to say them. However, it is important to keep in mind that there is a book of erotic poetry in the middle of the Bible, and that Paul tells married couples that they should not stop having sex. The Bible seems pretty okay with sex, and certainly it is a gift from God. So in reality, there is no clear direction either way about masturbation in the Bible.

*For info about sexuality in America it is always illuminating to look at the Chicago Institute's yearly survey of sexual habits. One interesting trend is that female masturbation is way up, finally giving the men a run for their money. In the teenage demographic, females are dead even with males now. Girlpower!

And yet their omnipresence God rudely invading our personal space and violating our privacy every waking moment of our lives just to watch us masturbate isn't sinful? Their God-concept needs to learn to mind his own freaking business and get a life that doesn't involve getting nailed to a cross, of all things. XD

Because God is pure love, in one sense there is no hatred in God. But there are actions that God regards with a COMPLETE ABSENCE of love. There are many things that men can do that God does not love. In so far as God does not love a human action, according to our way of thinking it can be said that God hates it. These actions are sins.
God is pure love, yet is hateful at times? Can you please rephrase this into something that doesn't cause my eyeballs to turn black?

How do you mean disproportionate?.

I would suggest that not only is masturbation normal but indeed necessary for your mental well being(specially if you're a bloke).

And how can you NOT compulsively masturbate if you're a teenage boy?
