You already know all about where I live, but you will eventually see it from my perspective and love it.

I’m in Huntsville, Alabama. If there’s a heart to the Bible Belt this is it.

You can’t shake a stick around here without hitting a church.

It’s not all bad though. Huntsville is known as Rocket City, USA. It’s the home of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, and is the place Werner Von Braun designed and built the rockets that put America into space.

I grew up on the East Coast of Australia, Sydney but am currently living in Perth so to start...
The Official .gov.au site:-
http://www.cityofperth.wa.gov.au/

Population around 2million
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perth,_Western_Australia

Map locates the extent of "Perth" [Image: perth_australia_map.jpg]

There are many sites to visit but being a "small Country Town" you could probably get away with a day to see it all.

We also have great diving, and sandy beaches that are the cleanest in the country. For surfing you have to go south of Perth to Margaret River region (about 4hours) and yes that is where a board rider was taken by a shark.

There is a very large Motorcycling Community in Perth:- mainly because of the weather and mainly for the fantastic roads will get you to the better sightseeing venues

I live in a city called Bendigo which is 150km North-West of Melbourne. It was founded in the Gold Rush and was in the late 19th century one of the biggest cities in Australia with 40,000 people (It has now over 100,000 people). So there are a lot of Victorian buildings particularly in the central business district.

[Image: 886e312bc4563417409f28991518_grande.jpg]

One of it's landmarks is a huge Roman Catholic cathedral called Sacred Heart. As I have said on the chat-room Bendigo is quite a Catholic town to the extent the church has it's own magazine which comes out regularly.

Apart from seeing the victorian buildings and riding a tram line.

The only other thing which is interesting to do in Bendigo is tour a old gold mine, which is called the Central Deborah Mine.

[Image: Central%20Deborah%20Gold%20Mine%20in%20Bendigo-2.jpg]

Although every easter they have a parade in the centre of town, where a Chinese Dragon is paraded. Bendigo since it is a gold rush town has had a Chinese community living here since that time.

I live in Concord, North Carolina. It's about 20 minutes north of Charlotte (pictures of which are nestled somewhere in the members photos thread), and not much different from growing up in Manassas, which I'll get to in a minute, except the people are nicer.

It was first settled in 1750, but like much of the Charlotte area there is very little Revolutionary War history left besides markers. I'm lucky enough to live right next to the historic district though, so I go running past very pretty Victorians. I've been meaning to take pictures of more of them, but these are the ones I could find on the nets.

[Image: original.jpg] [Image: NorC01.jpg]

Most of them center around Union Street, which is a long-ish road that runs through old town and makes a beautiful, beautiful drive in spring and early summer under a canopy of old trees.

[Image: 444px-Old_Courthouse_Concord_1.jpg] [Image: 352358_470-50x250-50_5.jpg]

Mostly we're famous for the Charlotte Motor Speedway. We're a nice big NASCAR pit stop.

It's also sister-city'd with Killarney, Ireland - but even though I've read what that concept is, I still don't get it.

Now, I grew up for most of my life in Manassas, VA - a civil war town extraordinaire. It's about 45 minutes outside of DC (well, depending on your driving skills).

It grew up as a way-station in the Civil War - "Manassas Junction" - and trains still roll on through.

[Image: 800px-Manassas%2C_VA%2C_Amtrak_station_IMG_4335.JPG]

They've been doing reenactments like crazy lately to commemorate the First and Second Battles of Manassas (or Bull Run, as it's known to Southerners). Last time I was up there I waded through a sea of Confederate soldiers. The stone house pictured below was someone's residence, converted into a field hospital during the battles. It still has soldier graffiti.

[Image: PHI3302.jpg] [Image: ManassasPic1.jpg]

Also, we were so unfortunate as to be able to lay claim as the residence of John and Lorena Bobbitt. And we were also hit by the DC sniper while I was still in high school.

Sister cities are cities with a vested common interest that agree to promote each other. Lex is sistered with Deavulle France, County Kildare Ireland, New Market UK, and Shinhidaki Japan. Thoroughbred horses. Looks like Golf is the reason for yours....hehe.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
