We are guilty. Have you raised up arms against your country in response yet? Neither have I. And I suspect you pay taxes (like I do)? How is that not guilty by association? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
As to Napy's post about fat yanks.
That's somewhat fair I suppose, but don't forget that the US does indeed donate a massive amount of food and aide to many of the starving nations of the world. Quote:The United States is the world’s largest provider of international food aid, supplying more than half of all food aid designated to alleviate hunger, about four million metric tons of food per year. As currently implemented, U.S. food aid lines the pockets of American agribusiness and the shipping industry. Under existing rules, at least 75 percent of food aid has to be grown and packaged in the United States, and shipped using U.S. flag-bearing vessels. Quote:Even the rich will suffer. Yes Ace, Im absolutely certain that we can feed everyone. Ability honestly isn't the issue. Try apathy.
"it can't be done", "we can't support that many" pisses me off, since its just an attempt to shirk the sad fact that we can and don't. We'd rather argue for population control and blame it on some nebulous capacity instead of owning up to how poorly we treat each other (and our motivations for doing so).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. There's plenty of room underground, on the ocean floor, on the pole(s), in alaska, russia, canada, and we can always build taller skyscrapers. Food, water, candy, junk, soda, booze. No they are not. We will adapt. The rich will only suffer when the poor rebells in its entirety. Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

I wonder if you had a pie chart, what the amount of food would be that the US donates in comparison to what it consumes. I'm guessing the amount it donates would be a pretty small slice. The amount that rots in silos and shipping containers (and the average suburban trash can) would be bigger still..lol. We don't tally all of that up though, might be too embarrassing.
(and lets not pretend that america is even close to the only perp here eh Napo? I didn't exactly see any rib last time you were on G+)
