Science will surely destroy the planet

RE: Science will surely destroy the planet
I might add that the Moon is a light akin to the Sun, the stars are little lights attached to the dome of the sky whose purpose is for signs and seasons, the sky itself has little windows that open up to let the rain in... it's almost as if this stuff was written by primitive, uneducated men with no understanding of the true nature of the world around them.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Genesis, the first book of the Bible, makes a scientific error by describing the moon as a light. In Genesis, God is depicted as creating two lights for the sky: the greater light is the sun and the lesser light is the moon. This contradicts what we know from science, though, because the moon is not a light like the sun. The moon only reflects light from the sun. It's an error to claim that the moon is any sort of source of light like the sun and stars are.

Fact one: there are many smaller seeds — for example, orchid seeds. Fact two: mustard grows into a bush, not a tree.

Brassica nigra is a mustard plant that grows 8 to 10 feet tall and is probably the one He was using for His illustration. It's obvious that Jesus was speaking proverbially here and not relating absolute facts. For one, there were gardens in israel with larger plants, such as olive trees that would grow up to 20 feet tall. That would be common knowledge. It was just an illustration, not a botany lesson.

Insects have six legs, three on each side. (Spiders have eight legs. Centipedes and millipedes are not insects — in fact, they eat insects.)

I think it's amusing that atheists think the people wrote the bible didn't know how many legs insects have. The hebrew word idiom means at least four legs. case in point:

'Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects [sherets] which walk on all fours: those which have above their feet jointed legs with which to jump on the earth. (Leviticus 11:21)

They differentiated between the feet used for walking and jumping.

Genesis depicts God creating plants on the third day even though the sun, which is responsible for the ability of plants to live, isn't created until the fourth day. You can't have plants without photosynthesis and you can't have photosynthesis without the sun, so the biblical account of creation contradicts what we know from science.

God created light before the sun. Notice there is day and night on day one? The plants had light to support them until the sun was created.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

The light source for the moon is not absolutely defined. The Hebrew word for light, "or" (Strong's 0215) translates to either "to be or become light"or “to be illuminated or become lighted up". The hebrew word for lights "ma'or", which also refers to the moon, translates to "place of light,". It is also used to describe the light of the tabernacle, which do not generate their own light source.

Genesis 1:14-15 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Related: Revelation 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Genesis 7:11-12 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

Lucent. Seriously, I do admire the lengths you go to for your replies, no matter how desperate. Could you kindly show us some evidence of Intelligent Design or any of your beliefs. Please.

"There's no error here, clearly there is an adequate explanation...Godlight™." Facepalm

A before B. Your myth isn't accepted as fact even before this explanation. Now you have yet another thing to explain. The more you attempt to hand-wave the more complicated your conjecture becomes. I bet this is the opposite effect of what you're attempting to accomplish with statements such as these.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

In the same way it say it's flat I believe.

You translate it how you want.

That reminds me - FSTDT.net Quote# 62489:

Quote:[Question about the logic in light being created on the first day, but the sun being created on the fourth.]

The sun isn't the only source of light you know? Think of a cloudly day, there's light coming from somewhere.
