But Statler, you have to remember it's the Christians who are running around putting on airs about being kind, loving Christians, so they should not be sending hate mail that says, "FUCK YOU! I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL YOU FAGGOT!" They're supposed to be better than that.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Wait, are you suggesting atheists don't have any conception of morality? You are starting to sound like me. I think both sides need to play nice, although I have never seen AIG play the "woe is me" card by reading their hate mail to try and make a point. I am sure the majority of mail Dawkins gets is respectful and on point, he just chose the worst of it.

No, he's saying that christians are fucking hilariously hypocritical. You see, the atheists that might go to these xtian sites and give hate mail, have fuck all in common with me except their disbelief in god. Xtians however supposedly all follow the same moral values, and when they start sending hate mail it's funny because it pretty much speaks for all of you. Except you will say it doesn't, because even amongst yourselves you all believe different fucking things.

Wait, so which is it? Do we all adhere to the same moral code or do we all believe different things?

See the word "supposedly"? Do you understand what that means?

Yes I know what it means, but I reject its usage here. Christians are all striving to live up to the same moral code, that doesn’t mean they achieve it. Where in scripture does it say that once someone becomes a Christian they automatically live a perfect life and no longer make mistakes? You are pointing to Christians who are acting in a way contrary to how scripture commands them to and then pulling the sweeping generalization fallacy to try and make a point; that doesn't hold up my friend. What troubles me is the fact that you seem to give the atheists who act in the very same way a pass, and then inconsistently turn around and chastise believers for doing the very same thing. At least I condemn both sides of the aisle for acting in that way.

Do you have any examples of this atheist hate mail that AIG get?
If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

Bah, I don't even want to hear this garbage. I've seen each of you claim some common religious belief, yourself specifically stating that the 38,000 denominations of christianity were all essentially the same. I've also had each of you try to fob off the "not really a christian" argument.
It's both. You claim to follow the same god, except when you don't. Very irritating. When's the last time you challenged an Old Earth Creationist? Or a non literal believer? Care to tell the catholics that they're apostates? Of course not, united front and all. Horseshit.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Perhaps some guidelines need to be given to those who wish to criticize the nonreligious. How about this?
Notice the hypocrisy in blasting Dawkins for being an atheist yet, ignoring blatant religious abuse within your own camp. Where is the hate mail for the untold numbers of "name and claim it" (more commonly known as prosperity doctrine) preachers who take advantage of the poor an ignorant every day? What about the people who would jump at the chance to protest an abortion clinic yet do nothing (except judge perhaps) to work towards solving the teen pregnancy problem? What about local abuses? When the church down the street does something like say, kick out a local Boy Scout and troop and steel it's trailer (something that actually happened here) how about opening your mouths and saying something? Is your assurance that God will forgive you for your errors so strong that you forget the fact that others won't?
How about Christians put their moral outrage towards self regulation -towards fighting for those in their church who have no money and no power? Oh wait they don't matter.
