I'm anti-social because people piss me off and I have a lot of solitary pursuits. Has nothing to do with my lack of faith. I just like plants better than most people.
Summer, you are NOT antisocial, just a person who does not suffer fools.
The term 'antisocial' is clinical term for a personality disorder,it has nothing to do with not wanting to be around fuckwits.
Ironically, the word more accurately describes those dogmatic pricks who go around loudly expressing their hatred of atheists.EG The public criticism of POTUS over thanksgiving is actually an antisocial act.
Obnoxious individuals, antisocial people are found incarcerated,in large numbers,as they are often career criminals. They can also be charming; con men and sociopaths are also antisocial.
Quote:Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is described by the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, fourth edition (DSM-IV-TR), as an Axis II personality disorder characterized by "...a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood."[1

And its mnearly all older people who are religious where I live, which would indicate religion is dying out.
I don't know many people under the age of 30 who believe in God.
First off, it's 78% in England, according to the link you provided, who believe in either God or a Spirit or Life Force, which is God in the way I am referring to God.
Second, of course people under 30 don't believe in God. It gets in the way of dating. People have to mature in order to form a true opinion. Once they start having families of their own, their opinions tend to change.
Having said that, I do agree that atheism is on the rise.

When did I ever use the word "evil"? You used it. Why?

Right. You can't tell what someone believes unless they tell you, but if they tell you they're an atheist, it's off-putting, at least where I'm living. Even in England, heck even in Sweden, if I were applying for a job, I don't think I'd want to say I was an atheist.

Oh really? That's what you call a sense of humor? Again, that's why one would get the impression atheists are immoral hedonists. I mean, I don't blame you. If there is no God, that is the highest possible moral attitude.
Quote:3) I was being ironic - of course most of us are hedonists.
Exactly. And hedonism almost everywhere in the world is considered immoral. So, that's where the reputation comes from.
Quote:4) I expect you to think that this is the internet and therefore a virtual playground for the bizarre and limitless self-expression.

Quote:It's people like you that equate an unwillingness to repress sexuality as immoral that further these stereotypes. I suggest that if you get the impression of immorality from sexual discussion that you should reasses your own moral stance.
I think if you don't have enough self-control to repress your sexuality in public then you should reasses your moral stance.

"Atheists are antisocial" he said to the forum full of atheists socializing.

They must make you repressed weirdos in a factory and send you this way. Chill out. You might enjoy life more.

Is appeal to ignorance a logical fallacy? I realize that we have an appeal to popularity here, but the "they put people in jail for it in [backwards] "other" countries" has got to be something.

Doesn't matter if you used the word, you're coming across that seems to suggest that there's something wrong with atheists in general. I want an explanation or do I need to quote you?

Shows how much you know...nothing.
I've lived in England my entire life, and coming out as an atheist has never done me misfortune. You know why? Because it's a very secular society. Even people who do believe don't care that I'm an atheist. This isn't the states, mate. Also it's best not to come out as an atheist in SWEDEN!? You are talking complete bollocks, mate! I plan to move over there some day. I've done a lot of research into Sweden and nothing you've said makes any sense. In fact being a believer (especially a creationist) is a bad thing over there. You're less likely to be given a good job. What part of 85% non-religious didn't you get? The US has a problem with religious intolerance, not us nor Sweden. I don't believe a single word you've said.

Those many countries must be communistic then, dictatorship. I don't know of any FREE western nation that would lock up people for fucking pictures of themselves on a forum as an avatar.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

I'd be ashamed to say I believed in imaginary beings. If I am applying for a job, and I am asked about my religious beliefs, I would withdraw my application immediately. That's not my employer's business, and I wouldn't want to work for anyone who thought it mattered on a professional level.
I'm a hedonist, as are many religious people. The difference is I am not ashamed to admit it.
As I got older, had children, matured, etc.. I stopped believing christian bullshit. Now I am raising my children to be moral human beings, and they're learning well. Religion is useless.

Considering it immoral doesn't seem to keep theists as a whole from indulging in it at a comparable rate. I'm not going to buy the label until I see evidence that we act more hedonistic than theists, instead of just being more tolerant of talk about sex.

Are atheists hogging all of the pron? Hardly doubt it. Summer is gorgeous, isn't she..lol. You know you can right click save that avatar and fa.....nvm. I bet Egor is staring at the avatars, beads of sweat on his brow, "considering", as hard as he can...just how immoral they are. How do you know what picture of a woman is immoral btw? If it makes you uncomfortable to look at it? There could be other reasons you're uncomfortable with naked (semi dressed, or suggestive) women.
PS: My avatar, let alone myself, has better sex every time I post than you'll have your entire life. Neither myself nor my avatar are ashamed of ourselves every time we look in a mirror, and that makes all the difference in the world. Speaking of maturing, growing up and having families...money is apparently the greatest factor in divorce in this country. You know what the thing most often complained about by divorcees is...bad sex. So you might want to think about that when you meet/crawl into bed with your wife ( or husband, I don't judge).
Before you get offended, remember, you're offensive.

Yes, it is yours and everyone else's that thinks they have to publicly be ashamed of it. All humans have sex, some of us are willing to admit it and talk about it as the common occurrence that it is. No one is saying you have to talk about it yourself, but when you try to take the high moral ground on an issue because you don't think others should talk about it, you are just trying to set yourself up as someone 'better' than those that have the audacity to talk about something so ingrained into human nature. Excuse us for not being embarrassed about our bodies, but that's what happens when you do don't have religious guilt hanging over your head. We all fornicate, some of just aren't afraid to talk about it. Get over it and stop pretending you're some kind of moral crusader.
Quote:I think if you don't have enough self-control to repress your sexuality in public then you should reasses your moral stance.
And there's the problem. You think sexuality is something to be repressed and ashamed of. Not only that, you call anyone else that doesn't immoral as if sex is something we all need to pretend around each other doesn't happen. I will repeat myself. We all fornicate. Just because we're not ashamed of that doesn't make us immoral, it just means we're not uptight prudes.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
