The inefficacy of prayer

What I mean though is that "prayer" to an atheist is simply thinking to yourself about certain problems. It isn't a conversation with God because we do not believe on exists. It is therefore thinking to yourself.

So you're saying the voice in your head is talking to you is prayer while Christians are using that voice to talk to something else?

And how do you know Christians pray to solve problems? I've talked to them they mostly just praise him. And I'm not doing that.

I think the difference should be noted between praying and worship. I think of prayer as asking God for something, whereas worship is the general "thanks for the world, thanks for allowing us to bash gays" etc. When a person is out of a job, broke, they pray to God to ask what to do. It is then that they come up with some scheme to get money. It wasn't God that gave them the idea, it was simply thinking about it that did it.
