What do you do when life gets you down
#31
RE: What do you do when life gets you down
I get depressed, then very anxious and when that explodes into a panic attack, I get even more depressed. Then, after a few hours or a good night's sleep, I readjust myself so I feel more normal, but generally I'm not as "peppy" for a day or so. This cycle repeats on a weekly basis.

@ festive1

I'm with you there except the only self-harm I've done is that I once took a high overdose of lithium.

I had no idea what I felt in my most depressive case except confusion and I couldn't even tell whether I was anxious or not. And there was the fact that when I was "happy" it was somehow "not real" and I felt like a fake. Then suddenly it became despair and intense frustration and everything went wrong (the overdose).

And I certainly get very obsessive thoughts.

I'll talk with you, I'm a good listener.

When I am down, I pray to Satan that no christian would find out and be tempted to come and demonstrated just how disgraced I can be through association with the loose grouping called humans to which they alledgedly also belong.

A million times this... The feeling of being fake, not real, loss of a central identity... Yup, that about sums it up for me, then the negative thoughts kind of take over to fill the void, because there's no denying the pain is real, which is really bad.

I don't recommend this for the average person, but for you, yes... You should visit the US, we could roam, drunkenly shouting at people *Bonus* we could do this at the Capital Building or the White House.... I have so many fantasies about going downtown and screaming at people, a little liquid courage would help make that a reality... Then being arrested by the park police... Okay, maybe not.

You're disassociating, in psychological terms. It's very common in these kinds of disorders. I could link to some articles if you are interested.

Yep, I know... Disassociating is something I am very adept at. And something I'm working on with my therapist Big Grin It is getting better, it just takes time.

What's helped me a lot is to realize that "good enough" is, of course, good enough. To me before it always felt as though "good enough" was never good enough. I had feelings of inadequacy that I think were partly due to believing that adequacy wasn't adequate. I wanted to be more than "adequate". I thought that I wasn't ambitious enough if I believed that adequacy was good enough, I was confused.

actualy i dont drink alcohol during the week, but if i had a bad week it certainly adds to the amount i drink on the weekend.

i got arrest a lot of times for "public disturbance" (doing something stupid when drunk), happyly that is so common that it`s not being registered.
being arrested for drunkenes in germany isn`t that bad, you get to sleep out your intoxication and in the morning you get some aspirin, coffee and some apple strudel.

For me, realizing "perfection" is a myth was a huge thing. No one is perfect, nothing is perfect. Everything is flawed in one way or another.

I have never been arrested. The thought of being arrested terrifies me. Loss of control... which is an illusion in and of itself, but the apple strudel sounds lovely!
