My dad doesn't try to scare me with hell, my whole life he's said I'm not going there. But he's certainly thought me that it exists, and there are people going there. And I guess I worry he's right about hell (because he seems sooooo certain about it) but is wrong that I'm not going. But he is NOT at all abusive to me because of that.

He's been there for me my whole life. Should I trust him, or a bunch of random joes on the internet who says me and my family are idiots?

I'm not saying that your father is a horrible father or husband, nor that he wouldn't be charitable or otherwise a pleasant person. What I'm saying is that he lives in a fantasy world, that he can't have all his screws tight due to "hearing" voices and that he has most definitely brought you up to be unquestioning (like he probably was) and that he is not a great thinker.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Neither.

You should look at the evidence and come to your own conclusion, and by that I mean you have to discard your predisposition to think Christianity is true and try to examine the evidence from an objective position.

Oh yes, it's definitely unintentionally abusive. For example, my dad suffered through the same fear as a child, and chose not to pass it on to me - thus reducing the level of abuse.

I don't have the mental capacity to research it myself. I have a mental illness that makes even some small things very overwhelming to me, yet alone something as massive as if there's a God or are my parents and everyone I know totally wrong about this.

But how did nothing become something? I'm genuinely curious.

Actually, you are NOT curious.

If you were curious, you'd continue to research and ask questions. Instead, you have decided you have the answer and have given up the search.

How does it feel to have such a closed mind?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Damn, fundamentalist religion is just poison for people with anxiety disorders. Are you receiving medical treatment for it? If it's as crippling for you as you report, it would be definitely warranted to restore quality of life. But treatment should be done by specialists for OCD/anxiety disorders, no untargeted general medication.

Then don't. It's your life. Why even ask the question if all you're going to do is offer excuses when someone gives you an honest, sincere answer?

Then he's trying to scare you with hell. Lying to yourself about it won't change anything.

...and it seems that he's succeeded, unfortunately

Some people consider it to be child abuse. In some nations, 'extreme religious indoctrinations' (e.g. deliberately scaring the wits out of your children with threats of hell, satan, demons etc.) will be treated as abuses under the law and can be a contributing factor to parents losing the right to raise their children.

...especially under these circumstances!! I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that a sensitive, caring parent would understand the additional stress that certain concepts might cause you and do their best to reduce or eliminate that stress.
