Tracking peoples' thoughts, detaining them for thoughts we don't like and messing with their heads to 'remove' or 'divert' them is pretty damn scary, dude.  I mean shit, just the government spying on our cell phones is insane enough, but spying on our brains is a whole other level of craziness.  It also sounds eerie close to a god.

You're attributing to me shit I didn't say. Take a chill pill and read what I said again.

EP...you are talking about monitoring peoples' brains.

It sounds like the mark of the beast and you will never again be able to enter the kingdom of heaven inside you.

It's sounds like a dark companion you will never be rid of while alive.

Absolutely horrifying.

Hey EP, do you know why the North Koreans are so "gung ho Cult Kim, he is God and this is the best country in the world!" and cower in fear of lethal retribution should they say anything different? Because he has them convinced he can read there minds and will slay them for thought crimes. There's your utopia.

I am. For the purposes of eliminating criminal intent.

You monitor ten people. Or an AI does it. It doesn't affect their lives at all. Until one of them thinks of killing someone and they actually intend to do it. Your computer determines that they could actually do it and are about to. Now then, would you rather use that information or not? Would you ignore it because it's "unethical"? Or would you go in, determine what happened to that person that they were going to kill someone, and solve the issue as peacefully as possible?

That's some scary shit man.  It's like Minority Report.

It's scary enough on its own principle, not to mention how it could be corrupted with agendas and biases of the people in power.

North Korea is a fucking failure of a state. What I'm talking about would actually work, it wouldn't be a mere illusion to control people. Rather, people would know about it and choose it for themselves. I'm sure people like you who couldn't accept it would be allowed to live in a ... more "free" society, if also more dangerous.

You think it'll be a one way street? Think you're annoyed by pop up internet adds now? You think hackers and viruses are a security risk now? Holy shit man.....ho lee shit.

No need to medicate people into compliance when you can upload Hell ver 6.66 directly into their minds.

The fact of the matter is this. If you want perfect safety, you have to give up a lot of rights to get it. You have to give up your privacy.

If you want to live in as perfect a world as possible you have to let go of the past. You have to change. You have to evolve.

If you want your government to complete the task, you have to give it unlimited powers. No one would stand in its path. No group or individual. That is the path to a perfect world, or as perfect a one as you could get. That could also be the path to a dystopian world, but only if that government would fail in its endeavours.

That is just a pipe dream, however. We will achieve something similar to this, except it will go a lot smoother than you'd think listening to me. It will also be a lot less scarier than it seems.
Are you smarter than Benjamin Franklin?

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

Government literally translates as "control of the mind"
Dystopia IS it's final success.

It's the same thing we're already doing, except it would be more efficient. Instead of locking someone up after they commit a crime, you prevent the crime, discover why the crime was going to be made, and solve the problem.

Alright EP. When you create your invincible, mind-reading, Minority Report all-surveying state, just leave me out of it.

I'll take my freedoms any day, even if some people act likes idiots with them.

No it would be actual, irrevocable invasion of your mind with a presence and power you have no control or influence over.

You still haven't answer how the state/AI would technologically monitor thoughts....more utopia magic?
