'God Bless America' in baseball games
November 1, 2010 at 4:48 pm
I've been watching the world series, and whenever they sing 'God Bless America,' I get really angry. This is so blatantly religious I just want to puke. Why are they even allowed to do this? I just needed to vent a bit here...
Trudging through endless religion one step at a time.

It's just a long standing tradition. The religious aspects hold little to no meaning to anyone. Except atheists, of course. Believers don't even give it a second thought.

Actually, it's post 9-11 bullshit. Before that they used to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch.
I far prefer that.

I used to get angry at people who had really dumb beliefs. I learnt to accept people for where they are at. You are just making yourself a sterotype: An arrogant atheist who cant tolerate religion. So just be careful.
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.
You dont hate God, you hate the church game.

Why don't you be more careful and think through how you and your christian friends will deal with a Muslim call to prayers in the middle of a ballgame?

Because the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion.
His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

The World Series isn't government. They are perfectly within their rights to play religious music if they want to. Separation of church and state isn't an excuse for atheists to impose atheism. I'd hate to live in that country as much as any theist would.

Then they shouldn't complain too much if a Muslim call to prayer is issued in the midst of a ballgame.
or a synagogue is built near the twin towers site.
