Pat Robertson: non-religious children should be beaten

Granted some kids just won't listen until they get hurt doing something, and hitting them with something might hurt them less than how they'd otherwise get hurt.

Theology is a deep philosophical concept that has few if any easy answers. It's beyond some adult's ability to understand, much less children, so just explaining it rationally, so just talking about it isn't an easy option. That's probably why simple obedience is commanded so much. You don't have to understand. You just have to obey.
The basic rule in the Bible and in the Koran is to believe and obey without exception or get tossed into the fire.

In that case Christians should be beaten until they learn respect for atheists?

Who's with me?

Purdy much. The whole point of hell is to both scare you into submission, and to help motivate you to force your religion on your friends and family. No matter what you do to them, it's not as bad as burning in hell for eternity, so don't hold back. If all else fails, kill them so they don't slow down your own attempts at converting people. Jesus' suggestion for killing people involved drowning them in a river, but burning at the stake was popular once too.

"Jesus' suggestion for killing people involved drowning them in a river,"  ... I'm not familiar  with that.  Do you have a link?

Pat Robertson is just like the nutty muslim clerics.  They are basically interchangeable in their beliefs.  If all of their quotes were in a random collection without their names it would be very difficult to tell who said what.

I don't disagree.

It's sad to think there are people just as, if not more, completely guano.

Matthew 18:6 "If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Not a strict commandment, but you can imagine some followers will take that seriously.

You know, this would be a good way to make an entire generation of anti-theists.
I would more generally advocate that one only leave one entrance into their mind(reason), and keep the rest of it rather closed, as it is one hell of a lot easier to shovel shit in than it is to get it out.

If the evidence and reason for you to believe something isn't really any better than the reason you should believe some rural farmer from Arkansas got anally probed by interstellar visitors, then you probably shouldn't.

Thanks,  I was thrown off by the use of the word "river" instead of "sea".  The Jesus character is a real homicidal maniac.  He had some serious mental issues.
