Oh how I miss the loons.

Randy is just annoying and rude. Which wouldn't really matter if it wasn't for him constantly whining (or whinging if you prefer Big Grin ) about other people being rude to him. Generally I just ignore him because he's not really that fun. I prefer the prof for crazy personally.

But I don't think most people here insult him because he's a Christian. Kp is a Christian and I really like him.

The feeling is mutual my dear I assure you.

If a woman is a week before her due date and she has a catastrophic life event resulting in her believing it's best not to have the baby at all, I feel it would be ok to terminate at that point if that's what she thinks is best for herself and/or her family.  I don't think it should be illegal nor do I think it would be immoral for her to make such a choice. I believe that women are capable of deciding what is right for themselves and their potential children.

There is something to be said about potential repercussions of such a decision, as well as the procedure itself - both psychological and physical. I imagine there must be a huge difference between removing a few weeks/months old clump of cells and a developed and active organism, with which the mother have been living and forming a relationship over the past few months.

As a depressive personality - I know there have been many situations, when I wasn't capable of making informed choices, let alone the "right" ones. Which leads me to believe, that it's perfectly possible for a pregnant woman to make a rushed decision, based on a skewed perception of reality, especially in a crisis - a decision which may haunt her for the rest of her life. I'm just not sure a week is anywhere near enough to provide adequate assessment of the situation and support.

It has nothing to do with morality - just psychology.

The same could be said for getting a tattoo or giving all of your money to charity or quitting your job.

Other than Min and dyre, has anyone on here regularly insulted theists simply because they're theists?

Not that I can think of Kevin. And honestly Min an dyre don't really bother me though they tend to get under other theists skin and I think that fuels their passion Wink

True. But you can usually get a tattoo removed, earn more money, or find a new job - or even beg your old boss to take you back. There might be no going back from late termination of a pregnancy, even if it seemed like the right choice at the time. And yes - I do think people should think for more than a week about all of those things anyway. Especially tattoos - they're usually horrible...

The time restrictions are mostly based on politics.  It was a way to allow and prohibit abortions at the same time.  It's a case of splitting the baby in half.

But the fact is that pregnancy does cause physical and emotional changes in a woman's brain, in effect changing her from what she was into a different person.  A woman's brain actually shrinks about 10 percent during pregnancy and the rebounds to its original size.  So in a way it's actually better for the woman to get an early abortion before her brain undergoes the resizing alteration.  And when the birthing process goes normally new mothers don't notice that her baby's shit stinks.  But she will notice that other babies shit stinks.  Of course men notice that all babies' shit stinks because their brains never undergo alteration.

I insult him not for his faith, but for his being a jackanape.
