Yeah, I'll take the torture and refuse to serve such a wicked being as this God you describe.

Can you explain the rapist accusation please?
God isn't forcing you to do anything you don't wanna do
and sure, but that's a little disturbing how you prefer torture :S

Certainly.

God is saying, essentially: "I love you more than you can imagine. I want you to love me, too. You have free will to choose to accept my love and love me in return, or to reject my offer. Oh, and if you reject my offer I'm going to drop you into a pit of burning sulfur."

That is a rapist and psychopath.

I don't prefer torture; I prefer defiance to submission in the face of a violent threat.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Could it be that Christians are really just victims of Stockholm syndrome?

God does not threaten us with hell, He saves us from it!
Hell is there because we sinned. It has to do with justice.

I think you misunderstand the love God would like to have from us, to love God is to restrain from sin, to seek out His forgiveness.

GC
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

RE: What the bible says Hell is like
What on earth is the point of this thread? Is this just threatening atheists with hell? Or describing exactly what kind of immoral monster God/Jesus is? We already knew that, which is why many of us wouldn't join Christianity even if it contained any truth at all.

I'll let Nonstamp handle this.

No - of course not. People who want to take our money and f*** our children without consequences threaten us with hell.

No, he doesn't. He doesn't exist.

Speak for yourself. I haven't sinned.

No - it has to do with fantasies of revenge, created in order to placate weak people, being exploited and abused
by the cynical authorities.

It's a blank check for justice, that's inevitably going to bounce.

Did god create hell? Or was it created by abstract justice? And is there any crime for which you think a human court would sentence a man to eternal hellfire?
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
