This Takes the Cake

RE: This Takes the Cake
So like let's all be honest, at this point if we heard this woman got hit by a truck the only thing we'd be is like yeah, good, fine  (16:10)

...geesh, as kids our dad always told Jenny and me "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"

...he would also say, "people put others down to make themselves look better"

Are we losing touch?

pointless to exist on this planet?   ...we are in this together, all of us

Sorry, but my morality is not guided by a book, and thus I do feel sorry when others are hurt irrespective of their religion and intelligence level. However how deeply it effects me, depends on how well I knew the person.

Your book might suggest punishing a person based on their opinions, my morality dictates judging actions and only criticizing ideologies and opinions, not hating the actual person for something this silly.

I'd be interested to know if there are any non-religious flat earthers.

It's easy to forgive ancient man for thinking the earth was flat. It's not so easy to forgive modern man for believing what ancient man tells him without question.

I concur. It further grates on me when people point to AA as if he is the "example" of atheism. Same with Dawkins, with whom I largely agree on most points, yet who has a talent for saying things in a way almost guaranteed to close down the minds of anyone with whom I might wish to debate/discuss a point. Most YouTube atheists have that in common, I'm afraid.

Though I have to admit I like Armoured Skeptic's particular brand of sarcasm and enjoy his videos.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

My initial thought exactly. I can't stand him for too long. Not enough to make it through a video. Plus, I saw him eat a banana backwards when someone here told me not to google it. What ever floats your boat, I always say, but I can't un-see that.

No! Don't google it!
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Come to think of it, since I've already knocked Amazing Atheist as unrepresentative of the brand, so to speak, despite the fact that he sometimes makes good points, I should point out that my personal favorite, Armoured Skeptic, has an excellent series of videos dealing with Creationist claims, and even with the Creation Museum. This first video is him taking a tour of a real museum with a Creationist narrating the trip:

And in May of this year, he visited the Creation Museum with the same person:

If course it's flat. Look out your window. It's flat. You can't see the curvature. It doesn't exist. C'mon, in your heart, you know it's flat.

Don't be fooled by bullshit round-earth propaganda. Be smart.

OK, that sounds fair enough.

I agree, I liked AA to begin with but found him a bit annoying after a while. I much prefer the Armoured Sceptic and Jaclyn Glenn. Oh, and of course Creationist Cat Smile

Round-earthers, all of them. Of course they're poor examples.

That aside, the YouTube atheists have something in common - they're on YouTube, and much of what's on YouTube is dreck. If atheism were a brand (and it's not), I wouldn't want any of them representing the brand.

As for Dawkins, as I understand it, he's a fine biologist, and while I may appreciate his sense of humor, he's a bit of an ass and also someone I don't want as a representative.
