Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?

So I'll just wing it. Fat pride is a movement that says thin models are an oppressive form of beauty, which is propagated by the "patriarchy" aka male dominated society. So in turn, people have turned to saying that fat is beautiful, resulting in many a ugly picture of horribly unattractive, obese women taking selfies of themselves saying things like "healthy at any size". So if you don't mind me being very blunt, it's some people who are very sad that society doesn't find them attractive. So instead of trying to work out and make themselves thinner, they would rather say that the beauty industry is the problem, try to get fashion industries to have extra large female models. It also perpetuates the misnomer that being fat is perfectly healthy, when what these people actually have is a medical condition. I hope that explains it well.

So wait. Let me see if I am understanding this right:
Women are fat. They are considered unattractive because of the patriarchy, and post horrible ugly pictures which bothers you. So they should work out more so they are more attractive to you!

I see.

They should work out or eat right because it's good for them and yes, I wouldn't date a fat chick. Especially not an obese one. That has nothing to do with the "patriarchy" it's just preferences. I don't really dig the rolls of fat look.

LOL
By "involved with" do you mean - "harassed by, up to and including death-threats"? Yeah, I thought so...

F*** #gamergate. A bunch of misogynistic retards, pretending to be concerned about journalistic integrity, when in fact all they're  worried about is the possibility, that women will take away their porn, by forcing game developers to cater to them. F*** every last one of them.

Oh, and f*** thundef00t too...
Yeah, you seem really like you're about tolerance and equality. The reason gamers hate these people is because the feminists are ignorant. They pick on gamers for being misogynist or whatever, when strangely enough, Anita even said that she's not a gamer. She just chose to represent gamers because she can make money off of nitpicking video games and misrepresenting a group of people. She refuses to go up against anyone in a debate and blocks anyone from commenting who disagrees with her. She talked at the united nations about "violent speech" on the internet and wants to censor people. She is nothing more than a part of the indoctrination into a cult like way of thinking. She is what I would consider, a disgusting fucking person. You think it's misogyny that she receives death threads? I have some big news for you buddy; people of all genders get death threats if they're public figures online. Only feminists make themselves out to be special snowflake victims.

So what? You're picking on feminists for being ignorant or whatever, when strangely enough - you're not a feminist. By your own "logic" - your argument is invalid. Clap

That seems a lot like something a religious person would say. So I guess I'm not wrong because I'm wrong, I'm wrong because feminism says I'm wrong. I don't think so.

It's funny to me, to see the pattern of snobby replies from feminists. It's as though they care more about telling you you're a misogynist than making a point. It's almost as if I were trying to talk to someone about their faith. When questioned they throw up their arms and get sanctimonious. It's a strange pattern.  Thinking
RE: Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?
Alright well, lets just correct one mistake. Its not predominantly in the atheist community. You can find such videos in any community with the same frequency. Lets nip that in the bud. Let me share my perspective. It might clarify the reason why some men are getting irate;

Everytime I watch a feminist video I am almost always being told, in no uncertain terms, that even though I might not think I'm sexist I am infact sexist. In very sweeping strokes I am told that all members of my sex are sexist and at no point does the irony of that sentiment seem to sink in.
To really put that in perspective its like a black rights group telling me I'm a white privilege asshole whos very existence has helped propagate slavery and prejudice in modern and exotic forms then expecting me to want to continue to the dialogue. In both cases I'm made out to be a monster but am expected to act with understanding. This isn't something limited to extremist feminists either. Why not just make good points and get me onboard instead of constantly insulting me. I shouldn't have to agree with everything said in order not to be a misogynist, why can't a constructive dialogue take place instead of a constant barrage of abuse? Its like because I have male genitals no reasoned points are required, I've lost by default.

Is it probable I'm influenced by a society that was in large part made by men for men? Sure but that isn't the sum total of who I am and that doesn't mean they know my views. They don't, they clearly don't. They don't get the right to make me out to be a misogynist based on the actions of men in the past. If we were all guilty of the crimes of those who came before we would all get the death penalty.
Also; feminism is not for equal rights. It isn't. Its for the promotion of female rights. At no point is it campaigning for both male and female rights. How many times have you seen feminists discuss whether men should get paternity leave voluntarily? If feminists were serious about equal rights they would identify as egalitarians like Surge said. I've yet to see it happen. Theres nothing wrong with having your best interests at heart but can we be honest about it at least? Feminism is not out to improve my lot in life, its asking me to help at the same time as hurling abuse at me.

That being said; why on earth would you subscribe to TheAmazingAtheist to begin with? Thats like shooting yourself in the head then complaining of brain damage.

This is actually what I think is going on.  The problem is language, I think.  I don't even know how to adress is.  It reminds me of how I feel when watching videos about racism.  Because I'm white, I'm automatically racist because of white privilege.  If I try and be color blind, I'm only making the issue worse, apparently. I need to wake up and address race all the time, be aware of it ALL the time.  But I don't see how being constantly aware that my neighbor is a different skin color than me is helping.  I hear the arguments, and I try and do my best to be a good person and fair to all other persons, but that just isn't enough.

This is the problem feminism runs into.  It, obviously, isn't a bad thing. Just like raising awareness to racism is not a bad thing. But some of the basic theories it operates under alienate the very people we need to help, quite on accident for the most part.  Like that we live in a patriarchal society....which we do.  But that automatically kind of turns it into sides, he against she, us vs them mentality.

Honestly, any time you point out that a person has privilege, and it isn't like something THEY are lording over you on purpose, it's a pretty bitter pill to swallow.

RE: Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?
I was on board with you until that comment about the amazing atheist, RaphielDrake. The amazing atheist actually has made some really solid points against feminists. It's sad that atheists would disown him simply because he's a controversial figure. Otherwise though, I think you make some solid points yourself. It saddens me to see the feminists in this thread who, instead of making level headed, logical responses to any of the opposing points, will just act pretentious to anyone who disagrees.

I made this point earlier, how so many feminists just refuse to have an actual debate with anyone. I think that anything logical, which doesn't involve a battle with one's own ego, should be relaxing and mostly stress free to learn about. I have always found it relaxing to watch videos about science and skepticism and stuff, because there's no ego, there's just someone looking at things in a logical way and explaining it. That's the opposite of what I see from feminists. They come off as egotistical and very mean spirited. If what feminists were saying was true, then they could easily just back it up. Instead, when you reject what they say as false, they take offense to that. That's probably because what they're saying is based off conspiracy theories and their ego deflates when you tell them they're not right, because they never had the facts to be right in the first place. This is why you'll often see such strange rude behavior from feminists.

Sorry, but I'm not sure I get the message. These pictures seem really random.
