I'm not weighing in on your views, frankly this isn't the proper thread to debate something like that, however if you want to debate or at least have a back and forth conversation I think you need to stop being so general and actually explain what that personal experience is/what that supposed evidence is, otherwise anyone could have guessed those two would be your reasoning, it's not really adding to the conversation, and if you are going to be on an atheist forum you should probably be prepared to open up about your views as from what i've seen you've seemed rather reserved on explaining your religious beliefs.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm actually not trying to have a debate or have a back/forth of any sorts.

I don't think it is someone's place to just assume why I believe what I do and then tell me why I do so. I don't need to offer an explanation of why in order to point that out. It would be like me saying to you "You know what, Heat? You're an atheist because you're afraid of the truth and emotionally scarred." You don't need to answer back by telling me the real reason why you're an atheist. All you need to do is tell me to shut the hell up because I have no idea why you are one and it is not my place to tell you why you think as you do.

CM asked me politely rather than just telling me what I believe, and that's perfectly fine. However, it is not something I choose to elaborate on to just anyone, especially not on a public forum. And I shouldn't need to.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I agree with that and all, but for lack of better words, I think it's rather contradictory to come on an atheist forum and embrace religion whilst never opening up or explaining why.

It's my personal belief, that the pathway to truth is to open yourself up to other possibilities, and maybe, if you explained why you believe what you believe, people could have a chance to help you recognize faults in your logic regarding the evidence aspect. I don't think it's good to close your belief off because you have come to know and love it so well, that you don't want to even give others the opportunity to change it.

That's just what I think though, I mean all of that with respect, of course.

I don't disagree with the principle of what you're saying. I just don't think an atheist forum is a good place to do this, especially when I've personally seen things turn very nasty here. I did not join to talk about my own beliefs.

I would not want to exclude anyone from joining this forum, or tell you to get off, regardless of what you believe. However, if you did not join an Atheist forum for the purpose of expressing or talking about your beliefs, why did you join? I'm genuinely curious, i'm not saying this to try and make you leave or anything, I just don't see a real purpose based on what you described, considering the subject matter of the forum is made clear as day with the name and website address.

That's a fair question. The interest started when a few of my atheist friends/acquaintances started posting a lot of anti christian, atheist stuff on facebook. I was curious and always wanted to post questions to ask them but didn't because I was afraid it would start drama. So I joined an atheist forum to ask those questions and try to understand some of the stuff I was seeing. It was interesting and fun to me, especially since I was bored a lot at home... being a housewife.

Now a days I'm here because I've made some friends and enjoy a lot of the silly discussions we have. I still ask serious questions sometimes, but I do feel like I'm part of the community and it's fun.

Alright that's an acceptable response I suppose. I did assume it was probably because you have friends on here, mainly was just confused about why you originally joined.

I would say that even though, I mean I guess it's a fair point to make, I don't think it's really an excuse to say you shouldn't be expected to talk about your beliefs. I think it depends on the circumstances, but given the context that you joined a forum supporting the opposite position of yours, I think to some degree you kind of should be, or at least be less dismissive of someone asking about your beliefs. I'm not saying it's your duty to talk about your beliefs, i'm just saying as general common sense most people including myself would assume someone in your position should talk about their beliefs.

Yeah, and I usually do. Like if someone asks me what my belief is about something, I will always tell them. The part I don't elaborate more on is why I believe in God and why I am the religion that I am. And yeah, that's a big part of a discussion involving theism, but there things involving that which I like to keep guarded.

If you're selling it you're liable for the damages regardless of whether you believe the product is genuine or counterfeit.

I guess the second one depends on whether they're unknowingly trying to deceive someone out of their money...
