It is well known that the rivalry between Baltimore and Pittsburg is greater than the one between Washington and Baltimore.
What I'm most happy about is that the Ravens pulled out a literal last second win against the Browns, thanks to their field goal attempt getting blocked by a Raven and then getting picked up and taken into the Ravens end zone. Hopefully now we can start to get our heads out of our asses and actually PLAY football like a team is supposed to play.

Of course, but while it is nowhere near as big, I have never understood why Pitstsburg fans don't like Washington, and the only thing I can think of, is that, at least while I was growing up, we had a long history in preseason drawing them. We used to scrimmage the, back then Baltimore Colts lots too.
I feel sorry for the Browns, I want them and the Lions to get to the Superbowl some day.

Ohhh don't get me started on the Baltimore Colts. I remember very clearly the news showing the Mayflower trucks hauling ass out of Baltimore, taking all of the equipment and belongings of the former Bmore Colts and heading to Indiannapolis. It was a very somber day indeed. We lost a football team because the owner wasn't satisfied with the city's refusal to kiss his ass. In the end, he left for a city who met his demands and we had no team untill 1994, when Baltimore acquired the Baltimore CFL's for one season. That's the Canadian Football League, for those that don't know. We finally got a new NFL team in 1995, but the team wasn't necessarily "new". We inherited the former Browns, aptly named the Baltimore Ravens.
I honestly do not know of any rivalry between Pittsburgh and Washington. It has always been either the Baltimore Colts and the Washington Redskins or, for the last 20 years, the Ravens vs. the Steelers.
At any rate, despite my teams horrible record this year, I will not be a fair weather fan. I will support my team during all games - both good and bad.
Last night's game was exciting and an excellent 4th quarter left me cussing and then happy lol. It was a bi-polar game, for sure!

I remember that, that was a dick move by the owner. But still relevant today. If the fans make them rich, and especially when they get tax payer money to build the stadiums, they have no fucking right to hold a city hostage and threaten to move them if they dont get free money. I don't hate any business, I simply wish any big business would stop shitting on the societies they get rich off of.

That's why you have to give props to Lions fans, because if we were fair weather fans, we wouldn't ever be fans at all. You stick with them through the thick and thin, but it's all thick with the Lions.

I have an underdog mentality, if you have not gotten to the big dance, I want to see you go. As much as I hate my NFC rivals, only the Eagles have not won a Superbowl. Now in the playoffs no, I root for the Skins. But, I do have an atheist friend who is a huge Eagles fan. I have told him and I do mean it, not for his team, but for him, if they make it to the Superbowl I will root for them, just to see my friend happy. Lets get real, the trash talk is fun, but it is still only a game, and it is still even nice among friends with rival teams, to see your friends happy.
I hate asshole fans in ANY sport who are willing to get into a physical fight over it.

One of my stepsons is a Steelers fan. As is his mother. We joke around about the rivalry, but I refuse to touch anything Steeler related. My stepson will purposefully wear his steelers sweatpants and socks to my house because he knows I do his laundry. I make him put those things in the washer and dryer and I won't fold them. Yeah, I'm pretty adamant about it. Then again, he's almost 14 and can start doing his own laundry lol

While that is not a drunken fist fight that ends you in jail, do remember it is an object, you wont burst into flames if you handle it.

SnakeOil,
Your alignment idea could certainly work, but I cringe at the idea of expansion. Not that some cities may not be deserving, but I worry about talent dilution. Even today some teams have to field pretty shitty NFL quarterbacks and this isn't always caused by injuries. Hell, most teams can't feature an every down back anymore.
Much of this has to do with the way the college game has changed. Maybe the solution isn't expansion into the NFL, but the NFL starting a development league with independent teams set-up along the lines of tiers of European Association Football, not like the USFL where they were in direct competition for talent.
