Religions don't only say that people will be punished in the afterlife, or some such intangible nonsense. Some religious texts promote violence against groups of people in this life. Those religious ideas I would see banned.

Those ideas, though, are taken care of by societies. Faggots should be gassed are heard in YouTube comment sections, and from the most marginalized people in society. That's why they're angry.

They're not real threats. Freedom of speech includes the freedom to say truly hateful and disgusting things.

Also the ones that are demonstrably endagering lives/ limiting freedoms by their very nature. You can't simply say, I read the bible, here it says to stone my children, but I don't actually do that so I'm allowed to talk about that and preach about it. That's my thinking. That should be banned. You can read it, if you ask me, but you're not allowed to indoctrinate other people to think like that. That is in itself incitement to mass violence.

How am I being general? Do you disagree with that statement?

I am talking about any passages of religious texts that explicitly instruct you to kill and/or oppress other people. If there aren't any, that's great. Are you saying there aren't any? I haven't studied any religions, but my understanding is there's a ton of those.

I considered that once a while back, but then freedom of thought would be infringed upon. The right to assemble would be infringed upon. Furthermore, there is the issue of what constitutes a dangerous hate group? Many will argue that Isis is Muslim but then, not all Muslims are Isis. So there's that to consider.

I think there are too many variables that would make such a concept impossible.

This is a very complex issue, and we don't want to mess this up. But something has to be done. We need to talk about it, at the very least. It's a very important topic.

Nowhere did I say I disagreed or that there weren't hateful ass passages in the Bible.

I'm asking you to provide an example of such a teaching occurring. Otherwise we're just talking about starting a shit storm over something that isn't happening.
