And you are an example of an evolutionary superior "bright"? Of one who is above all others and can look down upon those you have judged because of your compassion for the lowliness of their backward state of existence?

Nah.

Ad hominem attack, logical fallacy.  You attack me rather than address my objections to your condescending and hateful post.  You simply assume that I think that I'm superior because I have called out such behavior.

What I will say is that yes, some people ARE expected to be celibate. Priests and nuns who have taken vows. Unmarried people. People whose spouses go off to war for years at a time.

If a man is unable to have sex, then he is not permitted to marry within the Catholic Church. However, if a couple is able to have sex, then they are permitted to marry even if they are not able to conceive.

But generally speaking, we regardless of one's marital status, we can't simply screw whomever we want whenever we want without some consequences.

Ahh yes, more contrived bullshit.  Your ass runneth over.

These Christians lie to themselves.  They lie to themselves every day.  They're always justifying the way they feel about things.  But they're lying to themselves about why.  It's not that they think God said that gay sex is bad, therefore they go along with it.  They're more than willing to go against any number of God's laws.  They eat pork and shellfish, and then say "Well those laws don't apply to us!"  But then they also try to justify god's law by saying "Well sex is for reproduction!"  Only they don't tell couples who can't reproduce they can't get married.  A couple in their 70's are perfectly okay getting married.  A couple that don't want children, and go out of their way to make sure that they don't get pregnant, as long as they aren't using contraception, are okay too.  No problem with them.  They're not having sex for reproduction either.  But they go against Gay people.  Many of them put gay people through hell to try to 'save' them.  I've known too many kids who've went through reparation therapy.   People who are trying to 'fix' what's not broken.   Then they have the audacity to consider themselves good.

It's such contrived bullshit.  Hatred disguised as love.  Then they turn around and try to get everyone to embrace that hatred.  Because they're so filled with hate that they can't understand why others don't hate the way they do.  They're pathetic and small.  Mere maggots crawling upon the earth.  Lower than dirt.  They lack the braincells to qualify for what one would call a decent human being.  They lack any understanding of what compassion truly is.  It would be sad, if it weren't so pathetic.

AND they are fine with divorce.  Which Jesus hated with a passion, and preached against.  Jesus didn't say one word about homosexuality.

Jesus didn't HAVE to say anything about homosexuality. The sinfulness of THAT was a given.  Tongue

So, what's CONTRIVED BULLSHIT is you post in which you completely misrepresent or misunderstand (or both) what Catholicism teaches.

And all that anger in the last paragraph...you need professional counseling. Seriously.

No, what's contrived bullshit is the entire fucking Catholic religion.  Guess the fuck what doesn't apply to any of us?  ANY OF YOUR STUPID FUCKING RULES.

I think you are the one who needs professional counseling.  As do any other Catholics who think their rules should apply to everyone else.  It's time to stop being a sorry piece of shit, and start being a decent human being.

Uh huh.  A few verses in Leviticus.  Along with a whole bunch of other OT laws that people no longer follow.  And you completely ignored the fact that Jesus strongly preached against divorce, but you just ignore him on that one.  Cherry-picking as well as judging and hating too, apparently.

I would bet my house that you did not read the Scientific American article.  It goes on at length, repeatedly, how homophobic attitudes are instilled by the reaction of parents and authority figures in a child's life.  It says nothing about genetics.  Do you really think I'm so stupid that I will accept a list of a google search?  My 9-year-old niece could have come up with that list, and then told me what most of the articles were about.

I did. So, where are the keys?

Okay, I'll be honest (as I always am) - I skimmed, so, you're off the hook.

But that's why I posted the ENTIRE search results instead of just that one link. Because I knew there were a range of positions.

But you're the Dr. You tell me what science is saying about the genetic origins of homophobia.

I'm not a homophobe...so, I frankly don't have a dog in the fight. However, it is erroneous for dumbasses like rob to start crying "homophobia" every time someone expresses the view the homosexual acts are against the will of God.

I am opposed to having spiders in the house, but I am not arachnophobic. I am opposed to homosexuality without being phobic about homosexuals.

I can be opposed to something without being phobic about it.

RE: Gay, Catholic and Doing Fine
The author of the OP seems to think that it is entirely possible to be gay and Catholic and that his experience of being a Catholic has been positive because he views his relationship with God to be greater than the cost of celibacy.

Who would have thought that possible?

Curious but why does the author of the OP keep referring to himself in the third person?

I have not said that the rules of the Catholic Church should apply to everyone. The rules of the Catholic Church should apply to Catholics.

It's God's rules that should apply to everyone (including Catholics).

The trick is to figure out if and where these two sets of rules differ.  Wink
