Feel the Bern!!!
RE: Feel the Bern!!!

You can put those in whichever order you like and it doesn't bear on whether the sentence makes sense or not, in light of the reference(whichever reference you prefer, it doesn't matter). But the way Sterben put it was wrong because of what it meant, not how it sounded. I took issue with the meaning, not the rolling off the tongue thing.

It's really silly to make this an objective thing. This is purely subjective.

It makes no sense to behave that the order doesn't matter and is irrelevant. I think it flows much better as "Kick ass and chew bubblegum", you think it's irrelevant. You think it matters less than the wording, I don't.

Regardless of whether it's "It's time to" or "I've come here to" I think "kick ass and chew bubblegum" sounds way better than "chew bubblegum and kickass", you disagree but that's fine this is subjective and a matter of differing.

Quote:I'm not looking to prove anyone "wrong" exactly, I'm merely concerned with what is a good phrasing of this expression so that it successfully traces back to either reference you prefer(it doesn't matter which one you do).

Yes it doesn't matter which we prefer. It's all subjective. I'm saying that regardless of if it's phrased the way you did it or the way Sterben did it I'm glad you both opted for saying "kick ass" first like Duke does.

ETA: For what it's worth (nothing it's subjective) I've found a website that agrees with me, hehe:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Ma...wBubblegum

From the above link:

TV Tropes Wrote:[...]The "kick ass and chew bubblegum" quote is referenced quite often for laughs (word for word except for the one part where it's mangled, the reversal is common as many people find it flows more naturally); it's assumed all viewers should know it by name. [...]

(my emphasis)

Tv Tropes Wrote:[...]The bubblegum line was quoted almost word-for-word by the main character in Duke Nukem 3D. Thanks to the "Weird Al" Effect, many people actually attribute this line to the Duke, rather than the earlier, comparatively less-known film.:
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum."

(just so you know I'm not some alone tasteless weirdo, though)

Did I start a war over a video game quote that was rephrased from a classic movie?

Nope. EP started a derail.

I keep saying "It's not important, it's subjective, it's not worth arguing about." Which is code for "Let's drop it. Okay?" Maybe I should have just ignored him altogether *sigh* I just always struggle with full-on ignoring people.

Alright, let's get back on track here. If he does not get the nomination and Hilary does in his place are any one of you planning on supporting her?

I would support Hillary if Bernie didn't get the nomination (IF I could vote in the US, that is).

She's not the best choice but she's far superior to any of the republican vermin.

My wife (who can vote) isn't going to support Clinton if she gets the nomination. She's never actually voted before in her life; this would be the first time, and she's only doing it if Sanders gets the nomination. If I could vote, I'd do the same thing. I'm not a subscriber to the idea that everyone should vote, regardless of whether the candidates match their political views or not. If there isn't a candidate who I think would do a good job as President, I'll simply abstain from voting. Neither Hillary nor Trump are Presidential.

Absolutely.  Saw a quote somewhere that said "if we're fighting each other, and refusing to support each other, then we deserve to lose".  I rather liked that.  We have only two Democratic candidates.  Each one, of course, has more brainpower than all of the Repugnant candidates combined.  Bernie has the passion.  Hilary, no matter what the objection (some people think she's dishonest, but geez, she's a lawyer and a politician - - like Obama - - ) she has the experience the Bernie lacks.  It's too bad that they won't team up . . .
