Bullshit they're the same, they're ideologically opposed in the majority of cases, that's why Faux news hate Ron Paul, he wants to take away their cushy privileges and tax subsidies.

I'm not exactly a Libertarian either, I tend to want government to take some things right off the market, like roads, water etc, give them entirely to local government and district councils.

Im with void on this one min. This is very much fascism. But I can see some of what you are saying min..many libertarians voted these people into power thinking they were for lesser government. I imagine many "true" libertarians cringing at this right now..but the neo-theo-cons, fascists, meritocritists, plutocrats, cleptocrats, corporatists, and all other "ists" and "ats" on the right wing authoritarian side of politics are jacking their shit HARD over this bill and laughing at us peasants right now.

You have to understand that large proportion of self-styled libertarian in the US appear to be moronic enthusiasts prone to espousing ideologies without exhibiting the slightest hint of the ability to correlate, much less match, behavior to ideology. They would gladly be fishes in a barrel for anyone paying the most superficial and cynical lip service to their ideology while pursuing a dismetrically opposite agenda. So taken together as self-style political body, the libertarians conjures up a much different image then is reflected in your description. For those who oppose conservative authoritarianism and its tendency to protect settled wealth and previlige at the expense of equitable social mobility, libertarians as a body in the US could be expected to offer far more opposition then assistance.

We're all doomed now that these douche bag rupukeicans are in power. I feel bad for the poor saps who have been duped by them (and the rest of us who have to live with the consequences).
