GMO vs Organic

The no portion is in the breeders having had anything to do with it.  They just got lucky, in that regard.

The same isn't true for the glyphosate inhibitor trait we call 'roundup ready".  F1s rely on heterosis for their vigor (as you read) and thus their yield, RR crops enhance yield through interface with roundup.  The cultivars themselves aren't particular sturdy (nor do they need to be).  So, while saved f1 soy seed won't produce true to type, saved RR-Soy -will- preserve the trait that makes them valuable.  This is why, if anyone ever wondered, additional protections under IP law have been established before commercialization for GMO crops.  They're expensive to research and produce, and the patent holder has very little control beyond legal action on their product.  A seedhouse sits safe in the knowledge that they control (as in physically control) the parent cultivars which produce the traits that give their f1 value.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I've been using ordinary, clean fresh water all my life. People wash vegetables with soap? That makes me wonder if I've been doing it wrong all of these years. Thinking

Totally wrong...
That will make you die of old age!
No one wants to die of old age. It's impolite to doctors.

RE: GMO vs Organic
The mere presence of carcinogens is not very meaningful without a notion of the dose.

It's not a binary distinction between safe / not safe but a probability that can be increased or decreased.
