The Vedas...?  Do you believe everything you read, or is there something else to this? If I handed you a copy of The Silmarillion...would you become a Tolkeinist?

All those scriptures were describing idealistic stuff. "Life of pleasure is the life of an animal, which bring you in to body of particular animal in afterlfe. Too much food=pig. Sex=monkey". "True human life begins when you follow in to the footsteps of Saints(idealistic life of good deeds)". Pretty stuff about justice higher meaning. Neat stuff. If Silmarillion has cool ideas I'd read them. But not now because I know now that all this idealisic stuff is bitter.

I didn't ask you if you would read them.  I asked you whether or not you would -believe- in the contents of the Silmarillion...if you read it?

Because if you wouldn't..then "it's in the vedas" isn't a sufficient explanation for your beliefs about gods and afterlives and the rules of magic, whatever they are...if there are any. There must be more. We know, from your previous statements, that it;s nothing in science, for example, that leads you to conclude these things either. So if it isn't to do with something being written down somewhere (which I doubt it is), and it isn't some experiment or natural law.........

What is it? Explain how you know...what you claim to know?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Ideals are appealing. If atheism offers "nothing" and on the other hand you have "something" in the realm of religion even if its as ridiculous as magic, its offten more appieling then "nothing", "we don't know".

Ideals/ideas are appealing. If atheism offers "nothing" and on the other hand you have "something" in the realm of religion even if its as ridiculous as magic, its often more appieling then "nothing", "we don't know yet", "accept the death, meatbag".

Th idea that a doner will appear on my desk in front of me is appealing -this very moment-...and yet the sandwich hasn;t appeared...and I don;t believe that it will due to how appealing it is to me.

Is there anything in the world, in your experience, where the appeal of some "x", all by itself, made that "x" a reality?

-Again..how do you know...what you claim to know? I didn't ask you whether or not the vedas appealed to you, I asked you how you knew their contents were accurate.

Too much movement in to direction of self sacrifice trough throwing away pleasant things almost completely and maximally accepting bitter things of good deeds only(Life of a saint). Its a perfection greedy human mind couldn't produce because self sacrifice is as natural to us as sunlight to vampires.

its too perfect to be a simple book of greedy and perverted guys who wished to control the world by calling for bitter but good deeds life style only and abandoning all pleasant but wicked stuff like pervertness, gluttony, hate, anger, envy, violence.

Its holy or perfect and you respect that following your gut feeling.

So...gut feelings?  Do you think that gut feelings are particularly reliable?  For example...if my gut feeling told me that other races were inferior......would you say "Well...you have a gut feeling...so you're probably right about that." ?

Muslims tell us that their book is perfect too...but it seems that what is actually meant by that statement is that they really like the book..as you really like the vedas. I really like Bram Stoker's Dracula...does that make vampires real?

Nobody gives a damn about vampires, but life of a saint which is at the core of every religion looks perfect or beautiful and thats one of the reasons religion is still alive. Its brings perfect morality and possibility of unimaginable punishment for not following it. "Its like a perfect virus of a mind".

CIA intervined in muslim world and made alot lf mess in the previous century and got response in the form of the terror acts. And then it dropped down ultra modern army of NATO on medieval economy countries which didn't had to do anything with those terror acts and made a mess of around million casualties among civilians.

Now those savages have moral ground to call for jihad of fucking europe(where I live). Geopolitics is such a shitstorm, fuck it. Politicians are true savages for killing millions in the name of oil.

Atheism doesn't offer anything else than rationalism. I didn't arrive at atheism because it appealed to me, but because I no longer believed in lights of what I knew of the world. Also, since this debate is going in a pretty stupid direction, atheism doesn't define me - and, going out on a limb here - doesn't define most of us. It's only the absence of belief. I still have my life, my family and my interests. Atheism doesn't count among my interests to be perfectly clear.

Firstly, is reality decided by what people give a damn about......?

Quote:but life of a saint which is at the core of every religion looks perfect or beautiful and thats one of the reasons religion is still alive.
-and secondly...many people think that their gut feelings of racial superiority are beautiful, do you think those feelings are holy, and perfect?

It doesn't actually bring either of those things.......

Stop.  You don't have anything to say, do you?  You can't explain why you believe what you do...you don't intend to try to explain why you believe what you do, and you'll flit off to anything -other- than explaining why you believe what you do.

You're useless.
