Do you think some people take American Patriotism too far
|
Yes, and it annoys me to no end that those of us who don't support this country's unending military action are seen by some as cowards or traitors - and I say that as a veteran.
American patriotism should be getting a swift, vom-inducing kick to the balls, since it's just been revealed that Captain America is and always has been a deep cover agent working for Hydra. Mwa ha ha.

As I always keep saying, the best way to support the troops is to not send them into action.
I agree patriotism can be taken too far, but in a sense, to those on the outside looking in, this is what *defines* the US. What would it be like without all the flags, the pledges of allegiance, the "paid patriotism" at sports events, the glorification of the armed forces? We would have nothing to moan about

I've always said that the best thanks I can get for my service is the vigorous exercise of your rights, and especially the right to dissent. It beats the hell out of a handshake and a pro forma "thanks." The and three bucks gets me a coffee at S'bucks. |
