This website, atheistforums.org has nearly 40 pages of members that have never made a post. SOME of them have been members since 2009. It made me curous. One, why would anyone sign up to a discussion forum to say nothing when you can view the threads just by stopping by?

How many "speaking" members are vocal about their opinions in real life?

How bout it ... are you a bitch to deal with in real life or are you an introvert who needs this site as a way to vocalize your true thoughts and feelings? (I'm willing to guess a couple)


I'll answer first. The older I get the better I've gotten ... but I'd be lying if I told you that I haven't been called a son of a bitch for protesting a little too loudly if you know what I mean.

I am the same in real life, and like the fact that I don't take any shit.

Generally speaking, I am easy going, but when people push my buttons, I push back.

The differnce between here and there is, here, I don't really know you. And as in real life, I can come & go as I please. I don't have to see you or talk to you if I don't want to. I feel no need to be friends as it is easier that way, alot less complicated.

You can ask Adrian or Eilonnwy(She doesn't post here anymore) They've met me in person, I'm much the same on here as I am in RL, maybe 5-10% more filtered, because in RL people want to hear the truth a lot less than on a forum. I'm also a little less serious and more jovial in person, probably due to the amount of time necessary to be a moderator and a member here.

There is alot of truth to this. I have found that people get quite upset when it comes to certain subjects.

I find most ppl aren't interested & don't want to talk about it IRL. Different to here where you can talk freely and ppl are interested enough to argue the points.. which is great. I loves it. IRL I'm more friendly.

I'm pretty much the same here as I am in real life. I'm not really good at censoring my behavior in either scenario, online or IRL.

that's probably a very valid point frodo. Many people don't want to talk about the issues of the day IRL ... but here's the thing ...

Is it because they're afraid of how others will react to their views? or are they afraid that other people will judge them because of those views ??
