I myself was there because we first went backpacking along the Jurassic coast from Exeter to Weymouth. A nice place for dinosaur (well, more like ichthyosaur) nerds like us. For the next backpacking trip, the logical conclusion was to start in Newquay and round Land's End towards Penzance, just to cover more of the pretty part of the south coast.
