I myself was there because we first went backpacking along the Jurassic coast from Exeter to Weymouth. A nice place for dinosaur (well, more like ichthyosaur) nerds like us. For the next backpacking trip, the logical conclusion was to start in Newquay and round Land's End towards Penzance, just to cover more of the pretty part of the south coast.

When I was 18 we still had only two TV stations and I remember be really excited because one of them started to go past 10 o'clock and be on all night but only on the weekends.
At about 15 the rich neighbours across the road got a video player. They were among the first in our town.
They'd have about 30 kids there of a weekend all crammed into the TV room.
My dad would tell me how lucky I was because he only had black and white TV and only a few people had one at all.
