Uncommon Descent holds that…
Materialistic ideology has subverted the study of biological and cosmological origins so that the actual content of these sciences has become corrupted. The problem, therefore, is not merely that science is being used illegitimately to promote a materialistic worldview, but that this worldview is actively undermining scientific inquiry, leading to incorrect and unsupported conclusions about biological and cosmological origins. At the same time, intelligent design (ID) offers a promising scientific alternative to materialistic theories of biological and cosmological evolution — an alternative that is finding increasing theoretical and empirical support. Hence, ID needs to be vigorously developed as a scientific, intellectual, and cultural project.
Translation: We have no idea how science works and think that scientists should consider magic as an answer, so we're going to misrepresent the data and scientific inquiry as a whole.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I found this article about phylogenetics:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK21122/
There is info at 16.2 regarding the use of phylogenetics to determine primate relationships. Seems that the I.D.iots in question have their heads up their asses as usual. Paternity testing in this case is a red herring.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Here I thought that Science was about finding the truth concerning nature. Not supporting a priori bias's... my bad

Science deals in what is observable. Currently, the supernatural is not. Therefore, it is not a "materialistic ideology," to deal in the observable material world, rather than the unobservable supernatural, whose effects cannot even be established to exist.
In fact, in the real world we actually live in, insisting on the supernatural based on what we do know would be an a priori bias, not the reverse.

Do you remember what I said in the other thread, about how religious opponents of evolution try to make it about ideology? Re-read the quote that Faith No More was reacting to, and see if you can spot the dishonesty. This isn't about material ism, and no matter how often the ID camp tries to make it into a philosophical/ideological pissing match it never will be about materialism. This is nothing more than their ploy to distract attention away from the fact that they have never once offered a cogent scientific theory to account for what they claim is true. It's just religious woo dressed up in scientific jargon with not a shred of evidence to support it.

So often, opponents of evolution and the scientific method give the same argument: "I want to ignore the data, because there's something wrong with you who gathered it, and I know that you're lying despite never meeting you."

Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
